my youngest has been saving for a tablet forever... she now has enough money... so I have been looking online for one. she does not need anything "big" ore expensive... just something so she can play games, and stuff.

What brand would be good for her? Do you have any that you love... what do you like about it?

We have a nice Sony Android [by 'nice' I mean that it cost a couple of hundred dollars], an iPad, and a cheapy android tablet [cost around $60-$70].

With tablets, you'll get what you pay for. The Sony and iPad are the larger screens and are easier to use. They have more memory and so move much faster and are far less glitchy than the cheapy tablet. The android stuff still doesn't have the huge app selection that iTunes has, but they're catching up.

We bought the cheapy tablet for my daughter for her birthday. The kids' DS systems were wearing out, and they were wanting new handheld gaming systems. The tablet was cheaper than a DS, and the app games are certainly a bazillion times cheaper than DS games. Plus, she would have access to Netflix and a reader on her tablet [the reader is a big perk for us because she has vision issues and being able to make font much larger is really helpful]. However, her tablet runs much slower when you want to access the internet or download anything. It runs the games fine, the reader fine, and Netflix fine, though. And you CAN purchase more memory for it if you want, which would probably alleviate some of the slowness.

I have a Visual Land with Android 4.0, it was less than $100 on walmart.com. They come in different colors and I haven't had any problems with it. I read books on it, use the net, play games. It has a camera in it, plays mp3s. If you use a "mini" browser they run much faster when using the internet, I use Opera Mini which is a free download.

I seen that one on the site.. She has over 170 dollars but I hate for her to buy one to much over 100 dollars since she is 12 and who knows if she will take good care of it. This was one of the ones we were looking at. She would like the camera with it..

I think it's a good "starter" tablet for her really, I would tell her to use some of her extra money for a micro sd card for it so she has more storage ;)

She could get herself a nicer tablet if she'll look for a factory refurbished one. Walmart and Best Buy both sell factory refurbished ones; it's a good way to get an upper-scale tablet for cheaper.

You might check out Cowboom.com and 1SaleADay.com as they frequently have good deals on tablets - both refurbished and new. Fatwallet.com also has some factory refurbished tablets up on their hot deals page right now.

We bought Dd13 a Polaroid tablet with Android 4.0 for Christmas. I was right at $100 and came with a case with a built in keyboard to use if you want. It has been great for her. It might be $130 regular price. We bought hers at Shopko, but I've seen them at Big Lots. I'm guessing you could find it somewhere to compare. It seems it has 8G for a built in hard drive. She uses it for internet, Skype and games.

my kids all have a Colby Kyros... its great, you need to get a memory chip for it, but they are all working really well, fairly decent priced at Amazon and they found covers that come with a key board for like $7 .. (you need to get a connector for about $2) ........ Aprox. $109 for tablet, cover, connector and 3 stylus.

forgot to say it runs off Android icecream sandwich

We got my 8 year old an android galaxy for Christmas. we are pretty impressed with it. we got it through our cell phone company. it is one that someone bought and returned withinthe 14 day period. its not really used but not new either. we got it for around half the cost of a new one. She can do anything on it we could on computer. plus she can download the games to play. we really like it. Glad we got a good quality one at a good price.
