Does anyone do part-time work from home such as ebay, etsy, etc? I was wondering if anybody had any success out there. I'm not looking to earn a living, just some extra cash on the side to help offset the expense of books and supplies and stuff :)

I"ve lucked out. The neighbor, a good friend, sells insurance. I do filing for him when needed. It's not regular hours and the pay isn't much ($10/hr), but I enjoy it and it brings in "extra" money that I don't have to account for. I can use it for my quilting stuff, or to take one of the kids out for a splurge, or whatever.

Good deal. I would say $10/hr is good. It's more than I make :)

I have a few girl friends who sell 31 bags and they insist they are making decent money. Honestly things like that aren't my thing (though at one time I sold for a company called Your Finishing Touch which was like the now obsolete Home Interiors only they only had country decor mostly made in America with the majority being made in PA's Amish country... sadly they have vanished too :( ) Pampered Chef also seems to be a good one... again not my thing (would rather spend a buck for a spatchula at Dollar Tree than 10 at a party because I felt obligated to buy something.

I sell Barefoot Books, and we desperately need more people (whether you join my team or not... I'm not just saying that). Market saturation isn't an issue at all. For example, Thirty-One has 150,000 consultants in the U.S., while Barefoot has approximately 450 ambassadors across the U.S., Canada, and Europe combined.

Barefoot Books are high quality, multicultural books for children that are made to last a lifetime, and the publisher is 20 years old with countless literary and art awards. I'll go into more detail about everything if you're interested. The link is http://www.barefootbooks.com/sell-barefoot/?bf_affiliate_code=000-0ew2. Browse through the site and send me a message or post here if you have questions. You earn a minimum of 30% for all sales (plus bonuses based on sales and/or team leadership - you're not required to have a team).

I sell on Amazon, write books and have some blogs and websites. While none of those earns much, with those methods together I'm getting a regular income. I used to sell on ebay and it just became more difficult to sell things there, and I think etsy would be more difficult unless you had a great product that was quick to make.

Thank you everyone. Tina, that sounds like exactly what I want to do! I'm in the process of writing a book. I have found ebay is difficult to sell. I do have a blog and I'm trying to find ways to earn revenue off of it. What do you sell on Amazon? I looked into that awhile ago, but got distracted in the process. :)

Why not post a link to your blog in your signature? That way, we can visit, click on Google ads of interest, etc. I know it's only a penny or so per click, but they all add up.

I can't find a 31 consultant around here to save my life! No one in Central AR has ever heard of the company. I was told Pampered Chef had horrific market saturation, but I made bank! So don't let a broad-spectrum statistic dissuade you from a company.

The most important thing, though, is to find something you usually enjoy. It sounds like you already have some hobbies that could earn you income. Now it's just a matter of putting them to the hamster wheel.

Steve, I'm too much of a newbie to have a signature at this point. I have it set to display once I qualify! :)

Amie, I'm glad that you are having success with Pampered Chef! That's great! I'm still exploring my options. :)

If yours is a Wordpress blog, there's a simple plug-in that will allow you to add Google ads. As you can see from my blog, you can squeeze three sets of ads into the right column. Then, whenever anyone clicks on an ad, you generate income. (I don't remember now how I did it, but it took just a few minutes to set up.)

I have a blogger blog and I do use Google Ads. I also have an Amazon Associates Account and some affiliate links. Thanks for the tips! :)

It's sounds like you're way ahead of me. :) BTW, your blog is well-written.

(Duh! I had my ad blocker turned on, so I didn't see your Google ads. Sorry!)

Steve it's against Google rules to ask people to click on the ads, you can get banned for that.

Well if you have Google and Amazon Associates, it sounds like you are part way there. That's what I do. I also do ShareASale. I have a blog I write about my city. That does quite well. 2 years ago I started 4 blogs, I wrote daily for 3 months, then I dropped each to weekly. One blog (the one about my city) got more views and money per article, so now I invest more time into that one. It takes a long time to work out what works.

I just checked your blog. You have EIGHT children! And you want to do something in addition to homeschool them? GOSH

Anyway, I do well on Amazon when I review a product and put a link to Amazon at the bottom of the review. I've learned to review more expensive things than just books.

Quite right - which is why I suggested that readers "click on Google ads of interest." That's exactly what Google want.

Thank you, Steve. Good job on yours too! :)

Tina, yes, 8 kids. And, no, I don't have time to do much on the side. Haha! But I know it takes time to build a blog and website, so I want to get started and figure out the best options for making money and be diligent in building the site(s). It's good to know that you've been successful. I'm not looking to earn a living, just some extra cash.

I've also been trying to spark that entrepreneurial mindset in my children, so I was looking for something they could help me with. My 11 year old daughter helped me with a couple ebay listings and everyday she asks me if I made any money on Amazon. She loves to paint so I suggested she paint some paintings and list them on Etsy :)

Thanks for your help and recommending ShareASale. I did not know about that one.

Your children might like to make youtube videos, then you can put your Google code on youtube.

My daughter and I want to write a children's book this summer. I don't know if it will happen, we planned to do that last summer and it never happened.
