Does Notgrass ever offer discounts? We're doing America the Beautiful next year, but it's only slightly cheaper on their website (bundled) than at Mardel's (individual books). I'm curious if I should wait for them and/or for Mardel's to have a sale.

I don't follow pricing closely enough on their website to vouch for that, but I'm *thinking* they did not even have a sale at the homeschool convention. If they did, it was something that amounted to 10% off -- meaning it wasn't significant enough for me to think "wow! so glad I scooped that up!"; I think I just walked away thinking, "yes! no shipping costs!". It seems I've noticed that if companies don't even do a convention price, it's not likely to have an online sale.

By the way -- And I'm sure you've thought of this, already -- but, I wouldn't buy the literature pack from them. It's super easy to find the books used or at the library. I've even downloaded a couple of them for free from Amazon (some of the older books). As much as I hate using an e-Reader (really I do), there was a couple times the required book popped up on me and I didn't have time to grab a hard copy.

Oh, no, no ... not doing that. Just the books and workbooks.

Look for it used. I got it, but I'm not ready to sell it yet. We bought the literature seperately, many from Half-Price Books. A few I actually had already. And some, like Christy, she had already read!

I would just try all the regular places you can buy used curriculum. ebay, amazon, homeschoolclassifieds, and local curriculum sales.

But I did sell one used once and went for nearly full price.

I looked at places like Amazon, but I didn't see much difference (and Amazon is just 3rd party sellers, so I'd also have to pay shipping).

Homeschool Classifieds has it for $90. I'm thinking that's about what I paid for mine used.

I'm looking at Notgrass Exploring America. That's the high school stuff. Sorry! Anything I say/know is about Exploring America.

I just can't bring myself to buy there again. I've done it before, but I never got the products I ordered. I got ripped off, and there was nothing they could do about it. The person gave me the run-around for a while, but then stopped replying. I know everyone's not the same, but I'd rather buy new or buy from someone I "know" here. I also want to make sure it's the hardback version. Mardel's had both HB and PB for the same price. We'll use these a couple of times and then pass them on, so I want them to be in the best condition possible.

Yeah... I'm picky. I just don't want to pay full price if they'll be having a sale between now and July. If not, I'll pay whatever they are at Mardel's, because they usually have a sale in early summer.

We're not ready for Exploring America yet... although I was kinda torn when looking at them both side-by-side. I like EA better than AtB. I plan to do American history twice, though, so I'll use EA later. For motor skills (which are slightly below average), I liked the workbook with AtB.
