    Hi all,
I am trying to get my 5th grader the PASS test, and have no idea how to do it. I've been googling my fingers off and only know that he has to have the annual testing done, and its PASS here. My older two children, have already done it with K12, but I can't find it for him. Any help or suggestions out there?:!:

Is the PASS test a state test in your state? If so you may have to do it through the school district (usually they will let your students sit in on them).

Do you have to use that specific test? What are your state laws? Here in PA we have to test in 3rd, 5th and 8th grades, we can choose from several different tests, I use the CAT test from Seton, it's cheap and easy. If that is an option for you I say go that route.

I just posted on a different thread regarding testing. Are you schooling under 3rd Option? There is no testing under 3rd Option. I have been hs'ing my girls and have never had to have them tested.

@Jakk I don't know of any associations to join in this area in this area to do option 3 unfortunately. But am actively seeking an inexpensive homeschooling association. If you know of any let me know. :)
@CrazyMama yeppers, the PASS is my state test, and its required here annally for all grades from 3-8. Unless they are part of a homeschool organization, or association. Which can be expensive.
But thanks for the help, both of you! Its nice to know the support is available, and I will be looking further into associations jakk, thanx.

I belong to PASESC, it's very affordable. http://www.pacesc.com/ $40 per year, no frills and not intrusive at all.

    Reading this:

students must participate in the annual statewide testing program and the Basic Skills Assessment Program approved by the State Board of Education for their appropriate grade level. The tests must be administered by a certified school district employee either with public school students or by special arrangement the student’s place of instruction, at the parent’s option. The parent is responsible for paying the test administrator if the test is administered at the student’s home; and

from http://www.chasesc.com/sc-homeschool-laws/, it appears you may need to call the district to get the testing done?

It's MUCH easier to join a 3rd Option association and NOT have to have the public school involved at all.

Google Third Option Accountability SC and you will come with a ton of links. They range from just a few dollars to hundreds of dollars depending on what you are looking for in an association.

Here is one page with a few links:

I wish we had the option to join a group and be out from under the district in this state. (Though I secretly love our laws, they keep me from doing nothing because I totally would slack 100%)

Sommer msgd me so I'm figuring you are in SC? I am heading out the door to work right now but will definitely get back to you. We homeschooled for almost 7 years and never did testing. I will see if I can find some suggestions as far as associations to join. Schools Out Support was one I used in the past and I still get their emails so I'm figuring they are still up and running. The woman that started it is out of Columbia.
