...about the WTM classifieds? Grrrrrrrrr.....it just gets so annoying sometimes! I have never liked the new classifieds section. If you have a bunch of stuff to sell....of course you don't want to list them individually (but a lot of people do anyway). So, first off...you can't set a price if your ad has like 20 stuff in it. So it comes up listing it as FREE. OK...I think most people realize your stuff really isn't for free....but it's a bit of an annoyance. But, I just posted one new item over there with a picture. Not more than a half an hour later "somebody" posted 13 items all individually....which pushes mine down below. So, in a day or two my little ol' ad will be like on page 10. OK....off my soapbox now. I can't very well complain about it over there. And, I have had a little success selling over there....but the format is just: so.dumb. :x
I have quit using their site to buy or sell since the change. Its too hard to navigate. That was totally a stupid move on their part.
Yeah - I've listed a couple of things recently and noticed the change and don't like it one bit. I used to at least get SOME bites on the stuff I was selling - but now - nothing.
I've done that as well - and on eBay (I have a bunch of SOS stuff we didn't use) But the classifieds over there used to be really good - I could usually sell everything that was CM/WTM related in a day or 2...
Well Trained Mind. I sell sometimes on eBay...but I hate the fees. I haven't yet sold on Amazon (haven't even looked into what to do to sell there). I'm considering homeschoolclassifieds....but, I probably have to pay like 20 bucks to sell all that I have. $20 would give me 60 ads, I think. I have a little less than 70 separate items to sell. Do you just use the 7 free ads there....or have you paid to sell more? I just hate to pay to sell....but I might have to (better than all this stuff just sitting here in boxes). ETA: I've also listed at homeschoolreviews and put a huge ad on here. But....then I feel bad to keep bumping it here since it's in with the homeschool discussions. Can we have a separate selling section here??? As for homeschool sites to sell.....I only know here, homeschoolclassifieds, WTM, and homeschoolreviews. Any place else?
homeschoolclassifieds is free for the first 25 listings. Then if you tell of homeschool activities in your area, you get a few more listings. I would just list 25 and then as some sold, list others. Amazon fees are similar to ebay fees, but you can sell it for a higher price than in other places, so you end up with about the same amount of money as if you sold it for free or at a local sale.
Really? Huh...I was just looking there last week and I thought it was only 7 for free. I'll have to go back and check it out.
Unless, I"m missing something, too??? it's only 7 free ads at homeschoolclassifieds. I just listed a few of my items last week and the majority of what I wanted to sell added up to 7 items. I could toss a couple other small things up, but thought I'd see how my first 7 do. I don't want to pay to sell, either. I'm not getting any bites, though. And I'm sick of it sitting on my shelves... I should look into Amazon, but not sure how big of a hassle it is there?
Here's where I see the pricing. For free it says 7 credits, which equal 7 listings. One thing I just discovered though....I thought it was $20 to have up to 60 ads but I was wrong....it's $10.00. Still trying to decide if I wanna do that or not. ETA: I suppose I should just list 7 items while I decide. 7 listed is better than nothing. If something sells I'll just add another one on.
That's how The Homeschool Lounge's curriculum swap is, too. I never even bother. It's too hard to scroll through pages of stuff.
Amazon has been very easy to sell thru. List the isbn#, your price....you get an email when it sells, you ship it....easy!
I have done well with the WTM but I was one of those who listed everything seperate because when I listed all in one no one message about what I had. My only complaint was I bought some items that were not worth the price but I was still in Japan and my parents said it looked okay. Appearently what I think is okay and what they think is okay are two different meanings. On the other hand I gotten stuff that looks like it was never used and got it for cheap. I have sold on Ebay and that's gone well but never tried Amazon. I think now I am going to just keep everything in hopes they have an annual used curriculum sale for homeschoolers at our new home like they did at our last US duty station. The state organization held a yearly used curriculum sale and fortatally it was nearby to where we lived.
I shop at vegsource all the time, never thought about going there to list things. I shop at homeschoolclassifieds, but probably won't list there because of the limits. There are also sale boards over on secularhomeschool.com's forums.
