I should be finishing up the kids lesson plans, but instead I'm stalling.. I'm going to be upset when tomorrow comes and there's no real plan.. guess I should get busy.. ((sigh)) only 4 more months of school.. I CAN do this!!!! Anyone else feeling this way???
I gave up this year on lesson plans. I just have my kids do the next chapter and we just move through the books as fast or as slow as they want. I do have a basic outline of where we should be in the books throughout the year. Sometimes we are a bit behind and sometimes we are ahead. It has made it so much easier for all of us. I have kids that get frustrated when they have a daily list and they don't complete everything.
I wish I could ditch ours but they are really there to keep ME on track.. I'm a lazy homeschooler and won't do anything if I don't have it mapped out.. I like to feel organized.. LOL.. The one I'm really having to do lesson plans on is my son.. I'm going through books and skipping ahead trying to get as much in him as we can (without overwhelming him) so he can go back to school at the level "they" think he should be at.. he's missed so much school with his illness this year it's been really rough on him and quite frankly, I don't think he learned much of anything in public school.. Hopefully he understands what a gift homeschooling is now and will dig into his lessons with all he has.. Last year was a nightmare... The girls just do the next thing in the book, I don't do lesson plans but instead I put their work into their notebooks under dividers for each day of the week, so just in case something comes up they just grab the notebooks and all their work is there ready to go with them.. No more lugging around a bookbag of heavy books and not to mention the whole gathering them up on short notice thing.. It was easier to just skip school for the day than to gather them all together.. Now we have NO excuse... We can school in the car, the doctors office, or at grandma's if need be..
I'm glad you got them done! I wrote down how many pages per day the boys need to average in order to be done 'on time.' (For each boy, in each subject). That way, if I skip making lessons plans, as I did this week, I can just assign as we go along. I might miss buying some supplies for a project, but those are optional anyhow. And if they're really important, I'll circle back to them the next day (after I go to the store).
We kind of stalled out this last week as well. I had the schedule for the kids, but didn't have everything prepped. AND My MIL moved in on Thursday and she's in a wheelchair recovering from surgery. Sigh. I have declared this week to be a "light" week....so....it's all good! We're making up things we couldn't finish last week. And doing the BASICS. Hoping I get to planning the next two units. Sigh. Two more units and we're done our history curricula....that's what I'm aiming for!
I am SOOOOOO glad I stayed up and got them finished.. The day was chaotic and I was running around trying to take care of stuff for hubby.. Had I not gotten them finished, no school would have been done today.. Feeling very accomplished for a Monday:mrgreen:
