This is so piddily, but its kind of bugging me. My 5 year and I do school each day. When I tell the Grandma (mainly my MIL) what we've been learning she always says "oh yes we did that last weekend when he was here". It never fails. I know its a stupid complaint, but I put a lot of hard work into schooling my son, and I feel like whenever I give a exciting report, she's quick to announce that she taught him. After learning something (for example we are working on math) he will be excited to show her and I think she elaborates on it which makes her think she's taught him. It kind of takes the fun out of showing the important people around him our accomplishments. rant over.

:( Sorry. I hate when that happens. YOU know the truth! Maybe you need to start sharing these successes with people who won't try to steal the glory for themselves!

Some people always feel the need to compete with others. Sounds like your MIL is one of these. You have my sympathies; that's not easy to deal with and it's hard to address directly as it's passive-aggressive behavior.

In the end, no matter who gets the credit, your son is reaping a great reward from all of your loving efforts. And he knows who's teaching him. Hugs to you!

Sounds to me like someone has a bad case of the insecurities ;) you must be such a wonderful person that she feels the need to compete with you ... if only she would just learn that if she would stop competing, you guys would probably get along better....

Sometimes, talking to her might be good. Sometimes, people don't know what they are doing to cause strain ... maybe a kind approach ?? Like try to make it more of your problem then hers and then she won't jump on the defense....
