I've never really considered using Monarch because of the price, but I'm thinking of splurging on history for 6th grade. Have any of you tried any of the courses?
My kids "don't get it" - they would rather have a workbook if they are doing it that way. We used SOS (which is the same thing but without needing the fast internet) Both my high school kids were failing it because of silly mistakes - and it discouraged them. It's why we figured we would do something else.
Ug. I'm just so lost on too many subjects. I don't know what to do for History. I don't know what to do for LA. I don't know what to do for Science (for the 2nd grader). I'm starting to worry that my upcoming 6th grader isn't going to be ready for Jr. High. aaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
have you looked at Story of the World? My dd loves it, it can be used with multiple age levels and we have all learned alot.
oh, also I am doing the Prairie Primer with my Ker and 3rd grader next year. It has all the science, history and LA mixed in. My older (6th next year) dd will do Story of the World history, Apologia Science, BJUP Grammar/Writing and Spelling. Her reading will just be a conglomeration of books from the library. Does that give you any ideas?
Have you looked at beautiful feet books? I know - but I REALLY like it and can see how it can be used for multiple subjects.... we are using it for LA (along with CLP to help with some for only 2 of the kids) & History. The vocab is pretty darn cool in the middle age study guide Alexis is actually LEARNING the words!
Some days I just wish I could share stuff with you all.... and just show you things I have found etc. I have so much STUFF... and yet - I'm off to a curriculum fair with Alexis tonight We both enjoy looking at all the stuff...
Language arts- Phonics with HORizon OR BJU English2 both are really well set up and colorful and great teacher books!
I love BJU enlish. No prep needed, it's just open and go. Simply do the next page and you are done. Colorful, lots of pictures too.
