We just read Pond Walk by Nancy Elizabeth Wallace...it is a great look at a Mama Bear and Cub on a nature walk, where they discover, learn, notebook and have snacks! :). It has a simple craft suggestion in the back and has neat collage style paper cuttings as illustrations! I thought it was a great way to demonstrate the idea of a nature walk to young ones who haven't done these as part of "school" yet.

    :)

thanks. I think this could help my crew. They just don't seem to grasp nature walks.

That sounds so cool, which I heard of it a couple of years ago. My boys are nature study nuts! LOL

Sommer, do you have a Nature Center Near you? Something like this? Ours has weekend family things and once a month has a homeschool class during school hours. They have nature walks that they guide that you through (based on age) that has a different theme each month (based on the season, like the identifying trees ones isn't going to happen in December LOL) Even if it's a bit of a drive, it might be worth it to go once as an 'introduction' I know sometimes my kids will pick up on something a bit better if someone else tells them the same thing I've tried to tell them...
