I sold a really big phonics set on eBay. I packed my item really well (like always) with lots and lots of tape. I sent it media mail with "tracking". Later, I realized I forgot to add insurance. Too late. The total sale was like $80...so I should have added insurance. Right after I had gotten home I left the buyer positive feedback and added the tracking number. Well, every single time I click on the tracking number it tells me nothing. Previously, with other sales (not media), the tracking tells me where it's been on its route from me to the buyer. So, I looked on-line and it appears that maybe tracking for media mail will only tell you when it's delivered (I'm actually still uncertain about this). Still when I click on the tracking at eBay there is nothing (and I've triple checked the number). When I go to the usps website and put in the tracking number it always says, "Delivery status information is not available for your item via this web site." I mailed this package April 16th!! It's going from WI to GA. Shouldn't it have arrived by now?!? Thing is....she's never contacted me to say it hasn't gotten there. She's never contacted me to say the tracking number tells her nothing. Every time I check the tracking number (every few days) I get such a sick feeling. If it never shows up....I'll have to give her 80 bucks back plus be out the $8.24 shipping, eBay, and paypal fees (I can't afford that!....and all because I was stupid and forgot about insurance!). I've considered contacting her to see if it arrived...maybe she just forgot to leave me feedback....and maybe the tracking number is just never gonna work (which stinks...why pay for it then??? )? But I don't know this person...what if they took that opportunity to say....."oh, uh...no it never got here I want my $$ back" (even if they received it). Do I just keep waiting and if she never contacts me just assume all is ok???

To be quite honest, I would assume she has it. You are thinking as a SELLER. Try thinking as a BUYER. If the seller told me she sent it on April 16th, and it hasn't arrived in three weeks, you can better believe I'd have contacted the buyer and let her know!!! She's not about to pay you $80 and not get anything!!! So the fact that she has NOT contacted you should let you know that all is well.

I would assume that she received it also. If it turns out she hasn't, you will find out soon enough. Until then, put the worries behind.

p.s. That is easy enough for me to say since I am not the one dealing with the problem. I understand your worry.

I totally agree. If she didn't get it yet, she would have let you know!!!

Also she might not be a feedback person. I have been running into a lot of those lately :( I leave right after a person pays, or right when I get the item and check it out. But other won't leave at all, or weeks later :(

I would not give her the chance to say she did not rev=cieve, just assume she has till she says otherwise.

I too would assume she got it. Sometimes that tracking doesn't get taken care of by the postal workers. I have had things that was marked delivered that didn't show up till days later, I have had things show up and not get marked delivered ever.

It really irritates me that we pay money for having things signed for, etc., and the post office treats it like it isn't there! My dss doesn't live here anymore, and they delivered something that required his signature. Just put it in our mailbox. Didn't knock on the door or anything! I called the post office and told them they needed to pick it back up.

Thank you all. I feel a little more relieved. I thought the same....that if I were the buyer I would have contacted me by now. I had checked her feedback and the feedback she gave others. My set didn't have the workbooks, and she bought them from another seller after she bought from me. She left them feedback.

Speaking of not receiving feedback....I've gotten that A LOT at homeschool classifieds. I've bought from there quite a bit lately and always leave the seller feedback....they never do that for me. Whatever happened to 'do unto others....'??

Thanks again ladies for easing my mind.

A lot of people don't. I know I did give one negative feedback there. I inquired about something, and was told it was available. This was in the morning. I was gone all day and didn't get back to her. When I got home that same evening, I had an email waiting that said she had sold it because I didn't get back with her. IT WAS LESS THANTWELVE HOURS!!! I was REALLY irritated!!!

You can always contact your post office, maybe it hasn't even left there.... It could have fallen behind something or something... It would let you check into it without actually telling the seller, hey you may be able to scam me out of money if you really did get this.

Also media mail takes longer than any other mail. I get books from paperback swap and it can take any where from a couple of days to a month to get to me. And they sometimes forget to scan the package.

I used to own an online store and shipped a lot. Sometimes, tracking numbers don't work. Ever. Even after I got feedback from the buyer the tracking number would show nothing.

It's best to assume she got it.

Also, if you refund money through pay pal, don't they take back the fees too? They used to years ago, but I quit using paypal about 4-5 years ago...so it may have changed.
