I'm just wondering how many of you require your kids/yourself to be dressed and ready for the day before breakfast.
not at the moment. I've considered it but frankly there are some days where I don't want to get dressed and also fewer clothes equals less laundry for me to do. Sometimes a child or two will go get dressed on their own without me telling them to and that's fine but esp in the winter if we aren't leaving the house they stay in pj's a lot.
We HAVE to get dressed, because we don't school at home... But whether we do it before or after breakfast makes no difference, as long as we get out of the house between 8 and 8:10 am. :lol:
I get dressed before. I like my youngest two to get dressed right after breakfast that way they won't get something on their clean clothes.
When we're in our normal school routine, the kids have to be dressed, have breakfast, and their beds made by the time I want to start at 8:00. Except Friday, which is our Pajama Day.
My girls get dressed after breakfast (and after a few cartoons as well sometimes). I'd rather them get their jammies messy from breakfast than their clean clothes.
I get dressed every day. Old habit from when I had PPD. Very rarely do I go around in my PJs all day. My kids don't actually wear PJs normally. My oldest has SPD, when he was in PS we started the habit of him taking a bath then putting on his clothes for the next day and sleeping in them. He has serious issues with clothing, it can take an hour with tears, screaming, whining and begging to get him to find an outfit he can wear. My youngest, wanting to be like big brother, stopped wearing PJs once we started homeschooling. Occasionally they will wear PJ pants and a tshirt, and if they do, unless we are going to the store, they just wear them all day, even outside to play. What they wear to sit at home and do school isn't a hill I'm willing to die on. Even when we go out, I'm not picky. As long as it's clean and appropriate for the place and weather, I don't care if they don't wear a matching outfit (unless we're going somewhere nice, like a wedding or something) or wear boots with shorts...
Ditto here! I do make my older kids get dressed if I can tell they are being lazy. Something about getting dressed makes them more productive (sometimes).
My kids have "get dressed" as one of their chores for the day. I don't care when it gets done as long as it gets done before we leave the house for our afternoon/evening activities. We do have a rule that they must be dressed in regular clothes before they go out to play. Most of them choose to get dressed after breakfast. My oldest, though, usually waits and does a few subjects before she showers and gets dressed.
We all eat breakfast as soon as we get up... whenever that may be. The kids have to get dressed before playing or starting school, but I'm a bad example, because I don't get dressed until we're headed out the door. LOL
Well, I'd like to say Im in the less laundry camp.... no matter what we wear I have to do 1-2 loads every single day and I don't wash the oldest's stuff any more... and I didn't count the few loads a week that is bedding and strange things..lol There are more important things for me to stress over than what the kids are wearing. They each have a section in their dresser of clothes for going out (as in away from home where normal people may see them) that they can't touch, everything else is fair game... they can wear some strange combinations and I could care less. Sometimes DD will wear a nice dress to bed, then get up and put on pjs for the day. Doesn't matter to me... as long as they aren't naked and now that the youngest is 4 I don't want to see undies much either..lol
Ours have morning chores to be finished by 8am. This includes changing clothes. I also don't care what it is as long as it is clean. I have one who I think wouldn't realize he has on the same shirt for days unless someone pointed it out.
:roll:the only time I what is being worn is if we're going out. I think I finally got to the place where I no longer need to check and make sure Phillip's jeans don't have holes in the knees before we leave for church, but I wouldn't count on that :roll:!
We usually wake up around 7-7:30 (for now anyway... with a newborn on the way we'll see how that changes things LOL), relax for a short time while we eat breakfast, then start school. Usually about half-way through school work we all get our showers/baths and get dressed. We never stay in the same clothes all day. We usually have errands to run in the afternoon, even if we wanted to.
Em wakes, eats breakfast, showers, and then changes. For a while we relaxed a bit, but it got in the way with our leaving the house early. So it made sense to dress first, then carry on the day. If we stay in our pjs, usually it would be on Friday.
It depends what we are doing that day. There are many days that I don't feel like getting dressed myself, so I can't very well make the kids do something I won't. Lol. Plus, if I work the night before and know we aren't going anywhere, I will come home at 7:30am, change from work clothes into jammies. I do require most, if not all, chores done before school starts at 8:30am.
Breakfast is what would throw us off. Ds is never hungry until at least 10, even if he wakes up at 7:30. I am used to it now and don't even force breakfast. As for the clothing issue, he is an only child and wears undies all day unless we are going somewhere or someone is coming over. He has OCD, and clothing bugs him, even the softest stuff, and he gets hot easily. So, less clothing equals a less cranky child. Fine with me.
DD has to get dressed, make her bed, help me empty the dishwasher, and eat breakfast before we start class. Sometimes we eat breakfast while we start class. I'd rather be looser about it, but DD is extremely strong-willed and is most compliant when we're in a structured routine where she knows what to expect, so that's what we stick to. We've been in the middle of a move lately and nothing has been routine. We just started back to school -- heaven help me! Nothing but tantrums! I may need to go on valium....
Yes, that's part of our daily routine that we started this year. We used to not, but I noticed that we were more apt to stay at home if we didn't get dressed first thing in the morning.. It's easier to get up and go somewhere on a whim if you're ready to go already We do have some days where we don't even brush our hair, but for the majority of the time, we do get dressed before breakfast..
