Have you finished your school year yet? If not, when do you expect to finish? We have exactly 21 days left, but only 20 academic days since the last day is our party day. I think we are finishing one week before local schools which is a first for us.

To be quite honest, our school year just kinda petered out. We finished science in April when co-op ended, Bible when AWANA finished the end of April, Carl has announced Phillip is done with math, and English just kinda...quit. History is still going on, and Faythe will be doing Geometry all summer until the book is finished.

Part with us is we've always followed the school district's schedule, because dh taught for them, and it was just easier to follow his schedule. But he's retired now, and the kids really are kinda use to taking it easy when Dad's home....

I've followed the local school schedule too, for the most part. I just went to check and we are doing good. The local school doesn't finish until June 28. We have more school days here than the USA.

We will finish next week. We are mostly done, except for our Sonlight books. Also DD1 has her choir concert next week. Public School here runs beginning of Sept to end of June.

WOW!!! That's a late school year! Here we start the end of August, and finish the first week of June,or thereabouts. When I was a kid, we always started the Wednesday after Labor Day, and finished the week following Memorial Day.

Our school year petered out too. We've been not doing school since early May. We'll start our 2013 school year on June 10th though. Two weeks and a weekend. So I'm actually in prep mode over here. We'll do three weeks and take two weeks off, do three more weeks, take a week off and back for six more weeks. Also we only have one vehicle right now so the kids and I are limited in out of the house activities anyway so it really won't be a big deal to do school during the summer months anyway and plenty of time left in our days for a walk to the park or up to the fountains or library.

My older girls finished Grammar a couple of months ago. Everyone finished math in the last month. We kinda skimped on the last two weeks of MFW to finish it up. Ds17 is repeating Alg. 2 with TT, because I didn't feel like he retained anything with the A Beka I first purchased. He'll work on it through the summer. Both dd14 and ds17 have about two more weeks of their science courses. So, we are on summer vacation with some "summer school".

Our last day was April 19th according to the legal paperwork (that I don't have to turn in anymore! YAY!!!!!) But we start our year the 1st Monday in July because summers are so hot here in GA.

But reading, science and math gets done here 7 days a week. Seriously. I couldn't stop them if I tried! And we're reading little house int eh big woods.

I do have a couple of unit studies on light, Colonial America and Symbols of America planned out for them over the next few weeks...but we take our time with them, I'd rather them play outside all day before it gets heat stroke weather...

wow, So many of you do school year round, I would never have gotten my kids to do full time school in summer, but I actually gave MYSELF the summers off cause I wanted time to just be a kid hahah. I love camping, and swimming and stuff so where do you all do all that fun stuff if you do school in the summer? Just curious... ya know?

    Camping is fun?

We are starting a year-round schedule next year. We will just have more breaks during the year and if we move mid-year it gives us some wiggle room.

This is our first year to school during the summer months. It is largely motivated by wanting to be able to take time off when our baby comes at the end of September. I plan to school in the mornings and at the least we should be able to finish our school days by early afternoon leaving afternoons still to go outside, go for walks etc. We don't do a lot of camping and such and have no vacation plans for this summer so our schooling won't interfere in the least. We do our family activities on the weekends when Jay is home with the van. This weekend for example is a very busy one.

Our official last day is this coming Friday, which will be a Fun Day.

For DGS, he'll be staying with us for another couple weeks, one week for VBS and another for Cub Scout day camp, then he'll be home for the summer. While he's still here, we'll still read, practice some math perhaps, and if we don't finish his science (just one more workbook, and he likes it, so mostly it's fun) and history (read-aloud and answer a few simple questions, and coloring book that goes with it), we'll finish the last bits in the afternoons during VBS (which is only mornings).

We'll finish on June 13th, because Dh and Ds14 have a short trip booked for the 14th. Our local schools get out on the 20th, I believe.
