I think most people just stretch their 180 out when doing year round. More breaks during the year. I think it's beneficial for kids, that way they don't get 'brain rot' over a long 2 month break.

We however do way more than 180 days. But, our school is MUCH more relaxed than public school and usually more relaxed than many homeschools. I'm ALWAYS striving to make school/learning fun and enjoyable for my kids. My kids really don't always KNOW when we are doing school. They really can separate it from just living. I can't tell you how many times someone that knows we homeschool asks my boys if they had school today and EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. They answer "no" and 90% of the time we DID do school that day LOL

I find even when my oldest uses an actual curriculum (like Math U See) he still doesn't answer that he 'did school':roll:

That is so cute! When my kids were small we had two weeks in july that I called summer school, we did whatever I thought we needed to do then.
we lived across the street from a school though and so they knew if the other kids were in or not.

One of the reasons I wanted to be a teacher when I was a kid was to get my summers off I guess its cause I am a summer baby eh?

We just kind of keep plugging along. I shoot for 2 or 3 subjects per day. We won't really be "done" until I HAVE to break for baby's arrival in August.
