Wow! ONE PROUD MAMA here!! My boys and their friends are AMAZING! My 15 year old plays the Bass on Sunday mornings and he and my 16 year old have gotten some other kids in the youth group together to make up a youth praise band.. They have played at 2 different functions and this morning they lead worship at church.. They have been working so hard learning new songs.. I was just beaming when they were up there playing.. They are not perfect.. They have a long ways to go, but for the 5 of them to have just gotten together about a month ago, they are doing beyond AMAZING!! They surprised me this morning with an original song that they wrote.. WOW WOW WOW!!!!! Everyone was absolutely amazed by their talent and the fact that they are using it to glorify God.. These kids spend their weekend evenings together playing music and getting ready for the next function instead of running the streets and partying.. I see a great leader emerging in my 15 year old.. The singer gave up going to state for Choir to sing at their last function. She told her mom that God gave her this gift and she wants to use it for him.. They are submitting a video to try and get into a praise fest that's going on somewhere in Texas this summer.. We are going to use the video the church did today for that.. Ds15 will probably go to college for some sort of music major.. These kids are truely gifted and amazing.. Both my boys have taught themselves to play the guitar.. Ds16 can pound out stuff on the piano as well.. I can't believe some of the things I've seen them do.. They never cease to amaze.. Dd12 will probably be joining in soon. This girl can S.I.N.G!!! And she's so ready to be allowed.. When she stand up to sing in front of people she has absolutly NO FEAR! She gets up there and does what she does. The band members are supposed to vote on whether she can join soon.. I'm so proud of these kids! Mine as well as the others who are part of the band called Four-Twelve..

Oh ya, I will definately do that! I'm sure we will put the original on youtube.. It was AMAZING!
"Lord, I lay my life down to you.. I give you all of me. Mold me and make me into who you want me to be." "I only aim to please you, Lord". Some of the words. Not in their actual order, but man.. TEARS of joy..
I just pray that they will be able to fight satan when he attacks.. And you KNOW he's going to attack.. He always does when God is getting the glory.

My youngest starts guitar lessons on Wednesday. If she gets discouraged I am going to read your post to her and tell her to hang in there! I would LOVE to see a video when you can get one on to share.

Beth, one of my best memories was two New Year's ago. Phillip had gotten a guitar for Christmas, and brought it to the New Year's Eve party; his bf Sean also brought his guitar. So I'm watching these boys, age 11, playing. It went: Strum-strum-strum (change fingers). Strum-strum-strum (change fingers). Strum-strum-strum.

The 20-something son of the host is a very accomplished musician. So I asked Brian if he'd wander over that way and just say something encouraging to the boys. He said he'd be sure to do that, and I went away. When I returned a half-hour later, there was Brian with his guitar, playing WITH the boys! On the way home, I heard all about how Brian showed them this, that and the other thing. It mean so much to the boys to have the "big kid" taking them seriously!

I'm still in awe.. I posted a video on my fb page of them playing a few weeks ago at Praises in the Park. Outdoors never sounds as good as if they were inside though.. But still good.. They are preparing for a competition happening in September.. I get butterflies everytime they play for a crowd.. I know they are going to do fine, but still happens.. :) And I'm sure it will be a million times worse when they perform there.

Music has always been a part of our family.. So many memories growing up of my (mom's side) Grandparents, great aunts and uncles as well as all their kiddos getting together and playing/singing some old time country gospel music.. All were self taught. My dad's side had the gift of singing.. I will never forget listening to my aunts harmonize They were only in their teens then. it was beautiful.. So much talent there. It's neat seeing this passed on to another generation. Hopefully it keeps being passed on.
