The guilty indulgence thread got me to thinking, really... We have a saying at my house "It's always coffee o'clock here" So how much coffee does your household drink? My kids each get one small cup each morning (have since they were like 3 LOL Start 'em young!) I make 2 pots every day and many days 3 pots and some days....4 pots....depending on how much hubby and I each drink and if my best friend comes over and how long she stays. Last night she came over and we sat out in my driveway talking, drinking coffee and watching youtube videos on our phones, sharing music with each other...we went through a pot of coffee. So how many pots of coffee do you make at your house each day and who's drinking it?
I usually drink only two in the morning --- three, if it was a late night. DH about the same. However, our cups are bigger than regular 8 oz coffee cups...
We have a Keurig, so we don't ever make pots of coffee. LOL My husband drinks 1 cup a day here at home, more if he works from home. My MIL drinks 1 a day. We let my son have a "mocha" every day that we do school. We tend to think he's either on the ADD/ADHD train or Aspie/Autistic spectrum somehwere. WE never got him tested because we don't want to have to jump thru the extra hoops here in PA. But, a cup of mocha keeps him focussed. LOL It's basically a coffee with a packet of hot cocoa and half and half. I drink a lot of Coke Zero, though......
I make one pot each morning. Hubby drinks 3 cups and I drink 2. I just can't drink coffee after 10 am! I have a pepsi one in the afternoon or a large sonic dt. coke if we are out!
I grew up with Dad drinking coffee, but Mom didn't like it. I didn't like the smell, still don't, so I don't drink it at all. DH usually will get a cup at church, or he'll get one when we go to a soccer game if it's cold, but we don't keep it in the house at all because he doesn't drink it enough to make it worth the expense. I'm so bad, I won't drink tea at church unless I'm desperate because most hot water for tea is done in a coffee maker. They've been used for coffee so much that water ran through them has a "coffee taste" to me. I think Rachael drinks it occassionally, which is fine with me.
My "coffee" is either sweet tea, Coke Zero or Diet Dr. Pepper. I drink way too much of those for sure. I never drink milk or water. LOL!
I have a "6 cup" Hamilton Beach Brew Station, it really only fills the coffee cups we have 2 times. I make one of those each day for myself, no one else drinks it and I'm ok if I miss it. It shuts off after 2 hours so quite often I will pour my first cup and drink it, get busy and never get to the 2nd cup before it is cold.
The other leaded coffee drinkers (DH & FIL) in the house drink approx two to three pots....when they are both home together. DH goes through a full pot, by himself, at work. I am pretty sensitive to caffeine and rarely drink anything caffeinated. I might have a large iced tea (McD's is the best) or cup of coffee once or twice a month. Either one leaves me pretty jittery and zinging all over the place. I sometimes am envious of coffee drinkers.
I have one caffeinated cup in the morning and then maybe a decaf later in the day. Dh rarely drinks coffee. For dd we do not allow our kids to drink caffeinated (except the occasional iced tea) until they are closer to 18. Caffeine is supposed to leach calcium and it is important for young girls especially growing girls to have enough calcium to help prevent osteoporosis later in life. So we are mean evil parents and only allow non caffeinated sodas and such at special occasions.
I have at least a few cups a day. If I use my large mug, then I have two. Sometimes I will have some during the day. Em likes iced coffee. I am more concerned about soda than coffee. Although coffee has caffeine, it is more natural than soda. I limit soda consumption, I do not limit the coffee. Em chooses not to drink coffee daily, but I would allow it if she wanted to.
I don't drink coffee on a regular basis. My son drinks a couple of cups a day (he is 18). I do drink at work on last break a lot. I work nights and drinking coffee has become a habit at 5:00 a.m. to make it through the last couple of hours. I do love to splurge on a frappaccino (not sure of the spelling) now and then.
I need to make coffee for myself, and drink tea as well. I am at risk for Diabetes, and coffee needs to be my caffeine source. I like it black and get no carbs from it. I realize that in a perfect world, I would not "need" caffeine, but I am focusing on the carbs right now, and not guilty about other things. My oldest DD has become fascinated with tea lately. We bought some nice teas at a Teavana shop on vacation and I need to move that stuff to the basement so we can have it during school time. I actually have a nice stash of very high quality teas from around the world, as well as homegrown blends of herbal teas.
I used to drink 3 or 4 cups a day but I'm weaning myself back. Now I have 1 maybe 2 (or on a really bad day 3). Feel better about it too
