Okay, I have 2 months to get my son ready for public high school. All we are working on this summer is math.. Wasn't going to do anything because he's so difficult, but I changed my mind. We started back up on Monday.. He's giving me a fit, and it's hard to know exactly what he does and doesn't know because he really doesn't put forth any effort.. I think he knows the stuff we are working on right now, so We will skim it and move on to the next topic.. For those of you who use Abeka, could you tell me how you break up the lessons?? I have what I think is a complete set of the pre-algebra, but there's only one page per topic.. It seems like we should be doing more.. I've decided that we would do odd and evens. If he does well on it the first day, we will move on. If not, we will do the other half and then I will try and find printables for him to do until he gets it.. Am I missing something?? Is there more than the worktext and the test book for the student?? A friend of mine gave me this set this year so I'm assuming this is it.. There's nothing there to instruct him with though.. I have the student text answer key and the test key. Seems like so many books.. We have always used Math U see and the teachers manual shows instruction.. Abeka has examples on the pages so I am assuming that's their instruction???

I can't answer your question because I have never used Abeka.

However, will he be taking algebra 1?

Teaching textbooks has an awesome website with several sample lessons for each textbook. You could have him do the samples for 7th grade, Pre-Algebra and Algebra 1. You just need to check his score before he leaves the lesson because it will not save! Just a thought for summer review and it gets you out of the middle and puts him in control. ;)

We are using LOF for summer math for our daughter. She will be going into high school and is so NOT ready for the math!

LOF is such a neat way to learn math.. If $$ wasn't so tight right now, I would get that for the girls.. Not sure Nick would like it.. But then again, he doesn't really like anything right now being summer and all. :/

If he is being difficult I would definitely go with TT. That is why I use it with my grandson...he gave me fits over Abeka math.
