Hello, Wondering if anyone here is doing an online High School course with their kids. What have your experiences been with this? How much do the kids do on their own, and how much parent involvement is needed. Also, can anyone recommend an online program?
We use Thinkwell Math courses. It has worked very well for us. My ds is independent, but I listened to the lectures with my dd, so I can help her. Her needing help has nothing to do with the course, but her having a mental block when it comes to math. For middle school science, we used Plato for my dear son. He loved it. We are consider Uzinggo this year for biology & chemistry. We also have or are using spellingcity.com, grammerlogues.com, Ga virtual school, vocabulary.com, and homeschool programming.com. We used SOS for a year, but the lesson format just didn't work for my kids. As you see, we like online and computer courses as long as it's not just reading the textbook on the computer.
We did Plato science course for physical science or general science, I don't remember which. My niece did it completely on her own, and it met the requirement without any work on my part. I think it could have been a bit more challenging, but it was decent overview.
My oldest was enrolled in a public e-school (ECOT) her Senior year. She only took one class each semester. This allowed her to enroll in a community college for free, getting dual credit. It worked out VERY well for her!
