It's difficult to "prescribe" for another family, especially without knowing anything about them.
    Is he your only child?
How long have you homeschooled him?
What have you used up until now?
What are his interests? What does he want to do after graduation?
How does he learn best (learning style)?
How many hours is he working? what kind of work?
Did you give your permission for him to work, or did he just go get a job without asking?

Ah. If he wants to go into the Army, don't let him get a GED.
So why doesn't he just schedule whatever curriculum he's been using so that he gets it done in the day and after work at night and on days off?

I'm with Lindina.....if your son does not go to work until 4 in the afternoon, he has plenty of time to do schoolwork.

I would continue to use the approach that you've used till now, but stressing that, even though he has a job, that schoolwork comes first.

My oldest has hopes of getting her working papers at 14 so she can have a job....

My oldest only works for my husband, so scheduling isn't a big issue. If he had to leave the house around 4pm, I would just require that he finish his schoolwork by 3pm. He usually finishes it by 3:30 or 4 anyway.

I agree with Lindina and Krista, I see no reason why things have to be tailored to him, he doesn't go to work till 4, he should have his work done before this. Public schooled kids are at work by 4 around here, and that is after sitting in class until 3, then they have to come home at 9 or 10 and try to get their homework done. Your son has it easy being a homeschooler.
