    Hey Kris!!!

    CERTAINLY :D

First, remember social studies is a *political correct* term imho. It covers anything from geography to history to social lives,etc...

The terms: world history, ancient history, american history, geography, etc. imho give a little better picture of what we are trying to teach...

What area would you like to cover first? Are you wanting to do it in order? If your not, then a good unit study would serve you well on a subject..

For Social Sues, i know you said you were :D , they enjoying doing biographies on individuals and studying how they lived and dress....What language they spoke?,etc.

If you don't like history particularly, you could choose a character, either ancient or modern and put together a unit study....Cook some recipes from that time period, do you like making costumes for that time period?

OR are you more interested in a particular region/geography?

What strikes your fancy? What were you thinking? :D

The History Channel offers classroom material and programs. "The History Channel Classroom is an hour long, commercial-free, copyright cleared programming block that airs Monday through Friday from 6-7 am ET & PT/5-6 am CT." I usually record the episodes and use them when they work into my lessons.

Be sure to check out the timeline thread! Many of us are doing Ancient History this year, some using Story of the World, some Mystery of History, and there may be some more out there, too! We all seem to be enjoying it (I know I am!) and we might get you psyched up! We've listed lots of good sites dealing with ancient history there.
