Right now, we teach both these subjects 4 days per week. Just wondering how often others teach these subjects.
My 6th grader will do science 5 days (total of 5 hours) and history/geography 2 days (total of 2.75 hours). My 4th grader will do science 3 days (total of 3.75 hours) and history/geography 2 days (total of 2.5 hours). HTH
We do history lessons 3x a week, but some weeks projects get tossed in, too. Our oldest mostly does his projects on his own -- except he will sometimes enlist (as in draft) his younger siblings. They find the things he does highly entertaining, so that works for me. Sci: right now, we rarely, if ever, do formal science lessons. We read a LOT of descriptive science (I would say daily). I would say 3-4 times a week, the boys are involved in some sort of activity provides experience with the concepts we read about.
I usually aim for 5 days a week, but if we're crunched for time, science might get skipped. Certainly there have been weeks when they only happened once or twice in a week, but generally I'll say 4-5 times a week.
Well I have always done 2 and 2 then one of geography, but this year we may be doing all of them daily for a shorter amount of time.... just because I have so many things I want to get us through and I don't know how to break it down by days..lol
For Science it's independent for my older two because they attend a class. I give them guidance, and help them schedule it out so that the work gets done, but I don't make them do it everyday (unless it warrants it...my oldest tends to spend a whole school day doing her science work). History is scheduled for every day - some part of it - either reading, timelines, maps, research reports, etc. But they do touch it every day for at least a little while. (well, again, my oldest is the exception. She sort of block schedules herself, so she may do all of her history on one school day and then not touch it for a week. She's going into 9th, so I give her freedom as long as the work gets done).
We will be doing history four days a week this year. I have science planned for three days a week but I'm sure there will be weeks that we spend an extra day or two.
It varies. When I did MOH with all three kids, we did it daily. I would read almost as part of our morning routine. Now Phillip is doing MOH, and Faythe Streams of Civilization. I'm happy to get three to four days per week. I'd still like to shoot for five, though! Science is closer to five, because they need to keep up with the co-op.
We do both of them at least 4 days a week. Day 5 they get at least science and sometimes history at co-op.
We do them both 4-5 days per week. It just depends on what else we have to accomplish during that particular week.
Yep. This year, history will be daily for the older and weekly for the younger. Science will be 2-4 days depending on how much time we have that week and how involved the chapter is.
