Our town is just over 50,000. We live on the outskirts of town and have 7 acres. The area around our town is all farmland or desert.
We live in Modesto, CA in the central valley. There's about 200,000 people that live here. We have a large mall, popular restaurants, and 3 big movie theaters. Modesto was immortalized in George Lucas' American Graffitti way back when and the city puts on a 3 day Hot Rod, Graffitti celebration with a parade in downtown and car shows. This year's was extra-special-George Lucas actually came to town and rode in the parade. He grew up here and his family still lives here, but he hasn't been back officially in 40 years! HaHa! It was big time excitement around here last week (June 7). Although I like the variety of shopping and things to do here, I don't like living here. There's alot of crime and homelessness in our county. I wish the city could get a handle on it because its out of hand. People will come up to your car while you wait for a light or as you sit in line at a drive-up fast food and beg for money. Ugh....
We are always in a busy tourist city near the ocean because my husband is in the Navy. Be nice to someday be away from it all and live out in the country like my parents and go to sleep to the sounds of frogs and crickets instead of the sounds of sirens. Looks like we will be living in the largest populated area in our new state.
We live in a town of 11,000 people in Missouri. We have 2 prisons, a factory, wal*mart, and a on of fast food places. Thanks to this and the fact we are an hour away from Kansas City MO our rent is sky high. We're been trying to move to an outer city place for a long time, but the right place hasn't popped up yet, and when it does we have no money. Ha!
We live in a bedroom community in SW Missouri in a town of about 4500 people in a county of less than 300,000. Our town boasts a McDonald's, a Subway and a gas station. I think there is one traffic light. On one side of us is the big city (170,000) and the other sides are all farm towns. We are hoping to move further into the rural areas and buy a farm/ranch in the next year or two.
Live in country, lots of farmland, very flat land, river in front of house. Small creek behind house. Beautiful woods. Neighbors are about 1/4 mile away. Perfect to raise children. We have 5 that are homeschooled. 18,14,12,10,7.
I live in a large town (17,800+) about 20 minutes from a smallish city (68,000) in one of the 3 smallest provinces in Canada (751,000) Do you mind sharing which hickville you're in? I only ask because we're fairly "close". I'm in Quispamsis, just outside of Saint John
