I will put these in the links area, but since that area is often overlooked I wanted to share them here!

First is DIY.org. It's a site where kids do "challenges" to earn skill badges.. for now the badges are just virtual, but it says they may sell them in time... It kind of reminds me of earning badges in scouts. My kids are all about earning their badges... but anyway there are some great "skills" there each skill has a certain number of challenges to earn the badge... here is the list of skills...https://diy.org/skills

The other site is www.mobymax.com it's free and has math, language and vocabulary lessons on it. It reminds me of like ummmm I don't know, I want to say Dreambox math, but it's not quite like that. More like the one other one but I forget the name of it.. and it covers more subjects! If you want to join for more features it's only $60 a year for all your kids! And it says they are adding reading soon!

I just had Rylee do her first lesson... well the placement test then the lesson, in math. She had tears in her eyes at the start, then she got excited once she was into the lesson. She was getting stars (you get one for each right answer), and I noticed that it started well below where she is with the lessons. I have a feeling this is meant to help encourage her that she CAN do math. She is not mathy and she knows it... she gets very frustrated and it takes lots of calming her down for her to realize she can do it and get the right answer. Giving her a lesson that was cake for her was wonderful to start her out. I can really see this helping her along her math journey.

We have not tried any other subjects there yet.

We are also going to join DIY, though I'm not sure we can share what we do... we do not have internet on our phones, but I'm thinking we can just take pics and upload them from the computer??? I haven't figured it out that far yet... but we will definitely be using it somehow.. it's way cool!

I knew about diy.org - a friend showed me ages ago, but I forgot about it till you mentioned it. I ended up spending about 30 min on it this morning and got so excited about the possibilities not just for my daughter but for other kids that I ended up writing a whole blog post on it - so thanks crazymama for that inspiration!!

    Here is my post: http://fundafunda.com/blog/learning-by-doing-a-website-that-makes-it-fun.html

I am going to talk to our 4-H extension agent about using it in our project groups.
