VERY neat! I wish I lived down that way!

I'm afraid I have a family of math/science geeks. My husband just retired teaching middle/high school technology. My oldest daughter is in the Honors program studying Electrical Engineering in college, my youngest (boy) is involved in Robotics (FLL). At least my middle child is more like me, lol!

    Hi Jackie,

If I see any good math or science programs I will let you know :) What type of technology classes did your husband teach in the past? I have taught different types of technology but now I teach Drafting Engineering.

Glad to hear your son is involved in robotics! Does he participate with www.usfirst.org?

He taught just about everything. Programming, general applications, word processing, networking, repairs.... He had kids who would sit for their CISCO certification. But the district pretty much did away with all of that. And they made him go back to get a business certification. Why? Because if they re-did the classes to be business classes rather than technology classes, they could get more money from the State. So suddenly he was no longer qualified to teach the classes he had spent the last 20 years teaching.

I know what you mean :)

Basically the same thing happen to me as my classes were phased out because of Standardized Testing (FCAT) which placed me out of field and I taught math for a year instead. Well I left the county and became the new drafting engineering instructor at a magnet school. Since then, for the past 2 years I started my own online drafting course for homeschoolers and I love it!

My husband also taught math. And his last assignment was officially a STEM class, which required more training. But principal didn't like him AT ALL, and caused trouble. For example, they were making towers out of marshmallows and toothpicks. The principal was observing. At the end, some of the kids ate a few marshmallows, even though they were told to throw them away. According to the principal, that showed my husband had no control over his class . So that was pretty much when he decided to retire.

My son is 13, and has developed a 13yo attitude, so my husband has taken over teaching him math!
