So I bought Kindergarten, First and Second grade levels of Home Art Studio. I told the kids this morning if we got through the basics we would do art today... they all lit up. Then the struggles started... I was about to throw in the towel but instead said ok, here is a timer, you each have to finish your math before it goes off. I set it for 30 minutes. Wala about 5 minutes in the whining stopped and all math was done with time to spare! Then I said it's time to read... here is the timer set for 30 minutes. When this is done we will have lunch, after lunch if you have read the whole time we will do art.

We did lesson 1 on the K video.. our paint is not nearly the quality the art Ms. Volin uses, and our paint mixing trays are actually the top of a case of eggs (you know the kind that has 30 eggs on a layer) cut into sections... but our Color Mixing Hands are looking cute. They are actually in a drying phase so we can paint the background. I'll post pics when they are done. :)

ETA... HAS is on sale on Homeschoolbuyerscoop.

Good for you! Sounds like you found a good plan for getting things done...at least for today! Lol! Art, science, poetry and music are all so hard for me to break down and do, but they like it (usually) and I end up being glad I did! Who knows what talent you and yours may discover!

YAY!! Where's the happy dance smiley??

I hope this continues to work for you....I know I am definitely not above bribery. :D I'm soooo glad you, and the kids, like HAS! I have the full set and I'm hoping Ms. Volin will be making more (I heard somewhere that she was going to). Don't forget to upload their projects at the website...they will love seeing their art on display and getting her positive feedback.

My 8 year old really likes Home Art Studio, too. It's a great way to motivate the kids to finish their assignments!

I'm glad we began with the K level even though Rylee and Reagan are older... actually I think she should have given them levels and not grades... but maybe that's just me, but anyway... I can see us blowing through all 3 of the levels I bought this year alone if I let them!
