Hello all. I thought I introduced myself last week, but just realized that I did not. I am one of the rare homeschool fathers. I am a certified English teacher, working toward my M.Ed. in adolescent literacy, and intend to pursue a doctorate along the same line. I left the traditional classroom after my first year teaching (I am newly certified) when my ADHD son asked me to please homeschool him. He was getting into trouble in school, and though very bright, had very poor grades. After our first year homeschooling, he tested two grades higher, so my wife and I decided that this was the best educational environment for him. I substitute teach when I can, but he is my main student.
Welcome! [I LOVE the Poconos. We vacationed there often when I was a child.] I'm so excited to have another 'guy around' who has insight into this craziness. The few other men who pass through (and one who we tied up and forced to stay) have been invaluable in offering perspective that the rest of us might miss. I also want to say, good on you for being willing to buck the norm, even among the oddballs.
Welcome! I'm sure you'll enjoy this forum The Poconos are beautiful! I went to camp there in high school. Blessings - Carla
I was impressed by the Poconos, too, when we passed that way some years ago! Delaware Water Gap, High Ridge, or whatever it's called...
