    When I was in high school, there was a girl that did not have down syndrome, but some other disabilities. There was a group of teens that nominated her for homecoming queen as a joke. However, the school embraced her and ran with the idea. She was the happiest queen I have ever seen.

    The mom put up a huge thank you awhile ago on FB. She pointed out that her daughter's friends are real, that they go out of their way to include her in their activities to the extent possible, and that she really does understand that they made her their queen.

    Emily's school chose a very special young lady for homecoming queen too. Emily voted for her and was so pleased that she won.
