I ordered the Social Studies for my state. As I'm looking through the different states some of them have "New World" (Alaska, 6th grade)and "Global Studies" (New York, 5th grade). I'm going to order those too which gives me more of a variety to pick from.

Interesting. Funny how different states have different choices. You'd think so much of it would be the same...other than the state history one, or course.

I got a reply to my e-mail to Studies Weekly. Here is most of it (I deleted the info she told me about purchase orders since that wouldn't probably apply to most, if not any, of you).

"Thank you for your email and interest in our Studies Weekly publications. Hopefully I will be able to sufficiently answer your questions.

There are two separate issues for both our Heritage Studies Weekly and our Character Studies Weekly. There is a Primary Issue which covers grades Kindergarten through 2nd and an Intermediate Issue which covers grades 3-5.

Our Core publications (Social Studies, Science or Math) come in 4 quarter shipments with 6-7 weeks of the publication sent with each quarter shipment. You will receive one copy of all 32 weekly issues (the entire 4 quarters) for the price indicated. However, our pricing will be changing a little next year. If you purchase 1-9 copies of one of our Core publications, the cost will be $9.90 plus 10% shipping with a $10 minimum purchase.

Our Supplemental publications (Character Education, Heritage and Health) are a 6 Week one-time shipment. The price for our Supplemental publications will remain $1.75 per copy, per publication next year.

We look forward to serving you in the future. Please let me know if you have any additional questions or if I can be of any further assistance."

You may want to ask if you can mix and match single copies from both the core and the supplement versions to get the bulk discount. It was my impression that you could, but someone else may understand differently??

You can mix and match as long as they are both in the same price range. You can't count the Character or Health in with the Social Studies and Science. 10 of the same price range, any 10, and you will get the discount.

I looked a little bit at what they have for Louisiana. I wasn't too impressed. No state history at all. I did notice some of the same topics that people against Common Core are opposed to, though...
