Hello everyone! Just joined this forum so thought I would introduce myself. Not new to homeschooling or TX but new to Fort Worth and kinda have to start over with friends, church etc. If anyone has any info on places my children and I could go to meet up with other homeschool families (like meet ups, play groups)that would be wonderful! Going on 4 months here with no friends, haven't gotten out much...my older children are becoming quite desperate : ). I have 6 children ages 3 to 11, 4 girls and 2 boys.
Welcome, Allisonmama6! Good to have you! Have you tried Yahoogroups for "Ft. Worth homeschool"? Try your local library -- librarians often know who the homeschoolers are, and might be able to pass your ph# or email on to some when they show up at the library.
Pick me, pick me! I'm in Ft. Worth too...extreme north side, basically in Keller. The Central Library and "my" library, Summerglen have a monthly homeschool day. And I believe quite a few areas nearby have park day. Try checking out the google group horizon homeschool...I think that is right...so many good activities, classes, discussions on there daily, specifically for our area! I'm not a very adventuresome driver, but if you are close by, we'd love to meet for a play date at the park some balmy day soon! I have three kiddos, 7,4 and 2 (girl, boy, girl). Best wishes as you find your niche!
Thank you both so much for the advice and ideas! Will look into those things mentioned! GardenTurtle, we would be delighted to meet you and your children someday soon : ). I'm not much of a driver and a horrible navigator but I will drive for friends ; ). I actually know how to get to Keller...no construction filled highways. Yay!!! I will try emailing you in just a little while to give you my contact info.
Welcome, Allison! I don't know where in Ft. Worth you are, but I'm part of a group that meets near Ft. Worth weekly and very often does stuff in SW Ft. Worth around the Hulen and Bryant Irvin areas.
