This is my big Outreach project with my new church. I am now the committee chair of this dying committee at my church. It consists of my family and three other members with one of them no longer interested in Outreach. I am trying to bring it back and have the church meet the needs of it's community. My project will be working with a short term shelter that houses families and from what I was told mostly young single moms with little ones and some school aged children. Well we are having a Christmas dinner in July, with a beach theme. I was thinking of ocean stuff but the Oriental Trading company and local store has the Luau party supplies. It just be easy peasy with Luau but I think we can be creative with shells. The ladies involved along with family will follow what every idea I have. So basically all me. So here is the theme idea, opinions please.
Using the backdrop at OTC with the beach and water scene with my little tree with white lights with shell decorations, sand buckets full of goodies surrounding the tree's table and a beach chair next to for Santa; who will be wear a beach shirt and shorts.
The tables will have a single strand of green garland with shells around it. A center piece will be a candle in a glass vase of sorts. We will use the regular dishes from the kitchen. We will have no more than 50 people, if even that many. We have high chairs since the church as a daycare, preschool in it.

Food is all good to go. I am just figuring out the décor of the party. I really want this to work and am nervous about this. It's my baby so to say.

It sounds wonderful! A lot of work, but wonderful! And here's to sparking interest in Outreach in the rest of the church! :)

This sounds like so much fun! You can take nutter butter cookies and a tube of frosting to draw the straps on the cookie. They look like cute little flip flops. Beach balls hung from the ceiling would be cute and pool noodles would be festive. Look on pintrest under flip flop party ideas and see if anything would work. I love the idea and would love to see pictures!
