    Hello!

It's been ages since I've been here in Homeschool Spot. I hope everyone is doing well. :) I'm wrapping up the loose ends of our senior year and making sure our ducks are in a row.

Are there any Illinois homeschoolers that have graduated here???

Is there a state mandated government test that must be given before a diploma is issued? Or is it a test I can administer and have on file if questioned later for it? I'm having trouble deciphering the legal language. My senior has all of the course requirements either met or exceeded. Though, we've never done outside or standardized testing. And it was my understanding that was not a requirement for homeschooling here in Illinois. But, now, I've come across this possibility of a government or constitution test??? Is there any light anyone can shed on this for me?

    Thanks!

All I can recommend about that is check out the website of HSLDA, which has all the requirements of all the states.

    Nice to "see" you again!

    Thanks, Lindina!
I did check there very first thing; and while they don't list it, it's listed in the legal language on the Illinois State Board of Education for high school graduation requirements in the state of Illinois. So, it's difficult to decipher. Anyway, I do have an email out to them as well as a couple other places. In the meantime, I *believe* I've found my answer upon further online digging. :)
It appears he does *not* need to take any type of government/constitution test as a homeschooler. Whew!! :D To be honest, I'm continually awed at how lax homeschooling in Illinois is -- for all of it's political issues in-state, anyway. But that's another topic for another post on another day. ;)

It's nice to be back; I spent a good bit of time catching up yesterday around here. I'm super sad to be ending my homeschooling journey here in a couple months, but it's been one of the biggest blessings in my life, as well as my senior's. And for that, we are both extremely grateful.

Not sure about an answer to your question but, as a fellow Illinoian, I am happy they are not trying to control homeschool yet. I am sad to say, I think it is because they really don't care about education here in Illinois. This is why, when we moved back to Illinois from Texas, we decided to homeschool. WE care about education. Congratulations on your success and years of perseverance!

Thanks, Dawn! I agree with your assessment. Though, you'd think they'd love to get their hands on something to control and tax! haha.

Nice to "meet" you. I, too, lived in Texas for awhile -- just north of Houston. I'm originally from Southern Illinois, though, and we moved back a few years ago ourselves. :)
