I received a copy of weekly reader in the mail today and was going to order it, but 10 copies is the minimum and I don't need that many. Dont' have anyone that would split it with me either so.... Is there anything similar to weekly reader that is homeschool friendly? I only need one copy for my 5th grader.. My daughter would LOVE something like this. Thanks
I don't know if you'd like thus or not, but Christian Light has different levels. They ship once a quarter, and you hand them out weekly. I know the little kids' version is called Wee Lambs. I can't find it on their site right now, but I know you can order it from their homeschooling catalog.
I use Scholastic classroom magazines. I used to use weekly readers and had to buy two when I only needed one and then they decided to sell ten at the least like you found out. But Scholastic will sell you just one copy, you need to call the 800 number and do it over the phone. Hope this helps.
There are a lot of great monthly publications for kids: Stone Soup, Odyssey, Ranger Rick, National Geo Kids, Cricket, Appleseeds, Click, Highlights (to name a few). At our local library, you can pick up a whole year's worth of any of last year's magazines for $3 when they have their annual book sale. It's a great deal. Watch for library sales.
There's Nature Friend. http://www.naturefriendmagazine.com/ http://www.clp.org/store/browse/29_subscriptions Partners would be the age for your daughter. Don't see Wee Lambs... thinking that may be the ones from R&S?
mschickie, THAT was the one that came up when I did a google search. Looks good, but the site wasn't completely functional yet, so I couldn't find a price.. I emailed the company to find out how much. I'm not purchasing ANY curriculum this year. We are using what I have on hand, BUT I thought that this would be something fun and interesting for my daughter to read and learn about current events. So this will be our one small splurge for the year.. IF I can get it ordered before the cutoff date, that is..
They are actually redoing the magazines this year so it should be interesting. They are going to have a lot of on line material to access. Here is the link to subscribe as an individual (we do our through our hs group so it is cheaper) https://www.gwnews.com/subscribe/ho...4a11e9a86-81C53057-D875-04C2-FA4AAF377950DAEA
