What do you consider Homeschooling?

What is your definition of homeschooling

    For us, it was parents as primary, some neighbors and friends (art and Spanish), sometimes colleagues at work, and local homeschool chorale and sports programs. Now how would you characterize that little lot? :)

    Steve, it is still parent-directed. Even with neighbors/friends teaching, YOU were the one responsible. That's the key.

    Co-ops, neighbors, friends and homeschool sports/music programs are all parent-led. To me, the description of homeschooling is anything that is parent-led, not funded by the public schools or under the thumb of any gov't agency.

    Yes, you're right - but I would add the proviso that we were responsible even when our children attended private and public schools. We occasionally pulled them out of things or had words with a teacher. It's an attitude, I suppose.

    In the context of the discussion, homeschooling is probably when we as parents are SOLELY responsible - both in theory and in practice.
