Urgh! The past two days have been awful. I've had a difficult time trying to get him to do anything. I am so discouraged. We'll try again tomorrow and then we have a field trip with out co-op on Friday.

He's 9. He has bipolar, schizophrenia, and several other mental health issues. He does this every few months, but we need to get some work done.

Can you put it to him that way? I've never worked with a child with those particular issues, but one year I had several all-boy groups that age, and a "laundry list" that felt a mile long of tedious, dreadful content (I was teaching public school LOL). I finally leveled with one group and said, look, I get it, it's boring, I'm bored out of my skull, too (I may have commented that it was like torture... I'm dramatic that way). Can we JUST get this OVER WITH and then we'll do stuff we all think is interesting? It didn't get any more interesting after that, but I think they understood that I felt their pain, or at least, that there was a light at the end of their tunnel, because they buckled down, and we got through it.

It may not work with your son, I understand. Just a thought. Hang in there, Friday's coming.

This time of year makes a big difference for a child like that. My daughter has bipolar, anxiety, aspergers, and ADHD. Season changes make it awful. I have learned when you stress they stress. Go at it slow. The work will get done. Don't panic. I truly understand.

Trish, I didn't realize season changes make it worse. We've only been dealing with these symptoms and issues for about 8 months. I will admit to still learning about it myself.

Today, school did go better. We didn't get math or grammar completed, but did finish phonics, geography, spelling, and science.

I have been dealing with this for 12 years. I just recently learned barometric pressure has a lot to to with it it. Fall is going into the months of being in more and less sunlight. One suggestion read everything you can. I guess I should of said two suggestions always ask questions to his doctor. The more you know the more it helps.

Thank you Trish, I am constantly reading and learning about this. We've never dealt with these issues before and it's tough. There are days I want to just give up. Since you mentioned the weather changes I've read about it. Thank you for telling me this. We're new to this, and constantly learning new things. Life is a classroom!

You take each day at a time. That is all you can do. If you need anything just let me know. Have a blessed day.
