Two of my kids go to private Lutheran School and our school has a problem with two families going through divorce. One parent wants to homeschool, the other wants to send them to our private school. It's a huge mess. My opinion is that the parents need to realize the one in Kinergarten needs to be homeschooled and the 2nd grader should remain in school. I base my opinions on each personality/nees of the specific children. Homeschooling is not for every child, but neither is attending traditional school. Each child is different and has different needs. The parents need to face reality and grow up.
Well, see, my opinion differs from yours. (And that's okay, unlike a certain person who used to be here.) I think all children could thrive in homeschool, but some parents aren't cut out for it!
Here we have had some parents with this issue, and the court usually tries to get the parents to make an agreement with a mediator, but if one parent requests public school that will be where the court sends the child. It's a little sad, but I understand. If they can't even co-parent well enough to sort that out without a judge, then should mom really attempt to homeschool? A homeschooling family would need to be able to pass work between homes or atleast agree on educational goals. It won't work if every decision has to be passed through lawyers and judges. Homeschooling would only work if the other spouse can put it completely in the hands of the parent who is the primary homeschooler. That's my 2 cents anyway.
