My 13 year old is newly homeschooled. We started last year through an online program called keystone which his school district suggested. My son has severe add and anxiety this program is way to hard and has caused tremendous stress for myself and my son. Trying to do this the legal way of homeschooling but also trying to find an easier way please help if anyone has a suggestion on where to go to homeschool

Are you trying to stay with an online program?

It doesn't have to be an online school but I'm so confused as to what's acceptable and easy for him to understand. I read about ace program and a few others but the school has not been much help in figuring this out.

Sounds like you're trying to do a "public school at home" option rather than a "homeschooling" option. They sound similar, but they're not. "Public school at home" is just like public school, but done virtually through a computer. You still have to keep up with the schedule, testing, etc. but you can do it in your pajamas. Homeschooling is doing your own thing. You might have to do some sort of reporting, depending on where you live, but for the most part, you choose how, when, where, and what your kid learns. It can be any combination of books, computers, field trips, daily living, independent study, parental guidance, paid tutoring, etc. As long as your child keeps up with the minimums of the law, you can do anything you want. Spend all day on history and 5 minutes on algebra, or take a class in auto mechanics rather than advanced biology. Take a college level class rather than a middle school level class. Doesn't matter.

Do you want a hands-on or hands-off approach? Meaning... do you want to be involved in the teaching, or do you want someone/something else to do all the teaching? What state are you in? Do you know the homeschooling laws there?

Hi and ty for replying. I'm looking for a way to teach him myself. Im looking at the ace program, the online schooling was way to much and way to hard for my son with add. we are in new york and I've been trying to read there laws but so confusing as to what's a legal way. wish I could just teach him what I want him to learn.
