These are all great recipes, I hope to try some soon. The essential oils are all for smell and not so much a cleaning aid correct? can you find them with the extracts in the grocery store or more toward the incense and oils?

Tea tree oil and lavender are great in killing bacteria and germs. The only thing is if you use too much you end up with an oily film.

Recently, I have been mixing baking soda, borax, and tea tree oil as a cleaner and it is FANTASTIC! I like it much more than the recipe I posted on this thread.

I buy my oils at the health food store. You can find some at Walmart or Big Lots on occasion. Michael's sells them but they are expensive there. I do not know how "natural" the oils are from other stores, but the ones in most if not all health stores are pure, uncut, and natural. You will pay a bit more but they go a long way.

I looked at walmart today but all i found was extracts and the smelly good oils for your oil burner or simmer pot. Are those the same thing? The sandalwood smelled especially nice :)

No!!! Don't put those on your skin. :D They are made from chemicals and not skin safe.

You want pure essential oils. You can find some oils that have "essential" on the package or bottle, but you want to make sure the bottle or package says essential oil and skin safe. Essential oils come in small, dark, bottles because they are sensitive to light. You will not find them with candles or oils for simmer pots. You might be able to find them in the craft section next to candle making supplies, lotion making supplies, and soap making supplies. Sometimes they are also mixed on the vitamin shelf. At the health stores, they are usually all in the same spot and easy to find.

I didn't figure that anything I would put in my simmer pot would be good for my clothes but I thought I'd ask. Glad I did thank you! My town doesn't have such then, online I go!

Oh! I'll add a home cleaning recipe!! I LOOOOOVE Fabreeze, but the scent never seems to stay and it's rediculously expensive to buy every week or two. Sooooo, we made our own! It lasts ALOT longer than fabreeze and smells wonderful!!

This is for a 32oz bottle (we bought a cheapy bottle at WalMart)

1/8 C of your FAVE fab softener (we used snuggle, and Oh. My. Lord. it smells good!)
    2 TBS Baking soda
Fill the bottle up with Hot water

Put all ingrediants in the bottle and ShAkE! Then spray! I sprayed it all over our bedrooms upstairs and it smells wonderful, and it's BEEN smelling wonderful!

Don't you love making your own things at home?!

Washing soda has higher acidity level. So it makes for a better cleaner than baking soda.

Baking Soda as Toilet Bowl Cleaner. Who needs Comet or a soft scrub when you can sprinkle baking soda in your toilet bowl? Sprinkle inside your toilet bowl like you would any other cleaner. After I scrub the toilet I like to leave it soaking for about an hour or till some one uses the toilet.

Baking soda,Vinegar and apple cider vinegar are one of the most useful and essential homemade cleaning ingredients available. I remember my mother using them a lot at home. I am doing a course on home inspection and inspection clean homes is a major part of the work we do.

Baking soda and lemon for stains on the oven. Spread the mixture and leave it for about 2 hours.
