Hi everyone. It's been awhile since I've posted. I'd like to request prayer for my family. Nobody is ill, thank God. It's reguarding homeschooling.
    Let me explain.
I was fully prepared to hs, with all my materials and lesson plans for half the year made up. My husband was somewhat supportive at first but a few weeks before school started, he said he wanted them to go to ps. I'm not exactly why he feels like this. He said he just 'wasn't sure' about hsing. He had never met a hsing family before. Since then, we have met many hsers. I think God is putting them in our path. He now even works with a man who was hs'd. I've talked and argued and talked some more. But he didn't change his mind. So we sent them, dd,7 and dd, 5.

And as far as school goes...they like it. But, our 7 y/o has brought 7 'F's home. She gets mostly A's. Then thrown in there is a 20% or a 50%. I discovered that she just didn't understand the concept that was taught. As soon as I took 2 minutes to explain it to her, the light went on and she got it. I told my husband that the teacher just can't do 1 on 1 like I could at home. She has 45 minutes of homework on average each evening. I counted up the hours they spend with us each week. School gets them more than we do.

I am hopeful that he will soon be on board with this. I know 100% that this is what the Lord wants me to do. I've prayed and will continue praying. I'd appreciate it if you'd join me in prayer. It's so hard to send them off each morning. When we watched the news today, I just wanted to cry. I pray I can bring them home soon.

I'm sorry this is so long. Thank you so much.

Hi Angie....I will certainly be praying for your situation. I know it is a much harder thing for some men to get on board with, my husband was pretty reluctant, too. But after the first year, he didn't want them to go back to ps! Hang in there, and know you have our prayers!

Angie, go talk to the teacher and see if she'll let the work be redone. It can't hurt to ask. Be tender as you ask, because you don't want the teacher to think you're insulting her teaching style. I know this isn't about her, but a little tiptoeing to get your little one a better grade is worth it, I think.

I'm pretty sad that your husband disregarded your feelings and all the preparations you made.

Angie, I hope your husband will soon feel led to bring your children home too. I don't know how I would have handled things if my husband hadn't agreed to homeschool. I felt like you that it is 100% what I was being led to do. My 13 year old daughter who is awful at math, is now starting to do some easy algebra. I know it is because she doesn't feel stressed or dumb if she doesn't get it the first time and needs to go over something several times. At school she felt overwhelmed and inferior. She started being a clown and the silly kid to cover up for her feelings of being dumb. She started acting dumb, thinking people would not expect so much of her when in fact she isn't dumb, just a bit slower than the majority of her class at learning new things. I am praying your husband will try homeschooling and love it like we do. Best wishes for you and your family, Beth
