I just heard on the news that they are bury four of the girls today. I thought it would be wonderful if we all said a little prayer for these families.

I sure would love to go and be with them, they are so strong. On the news today they said they have forgiven the man already. Boy, I wish I could be that strong.

I always told my dd's it would be wonderful to go there and do things with them for a week. We had some that lived by us in Wisconsin they made everything clothing, food. they sound like something I would like.

Kris, I have been, and will continue to pray for those families. When my mother in law died, the Amish neighbors in the community came to bring my father in law a basket with homemade bread and jams and stuff in it. He was so moved by their kindness. Beth

My heart goes out to them, as well as these other families who are experienceing such horrible tragedy in these school shootings.

Prayer is the best thing we can do right now for them all.

This is on our prayer list for sure! What a horrible thing to have to go through! I will pray, also, that others learn from the Amish's example of forgiveness (including myself!)!

I've been praying for them too, I heard that the school will be torn down soon. I couldn't imagine going back in there. I also heard that there were some families that went down to the "mans" house to visit with the family. That would be hard too.

yes, Amy I heard that some of the Amish men went to the killer family and gave them support.

Like I said those Amish people are wonderful people and have alot of strength from the lord. It has to be hard.

I understand them tearing down the school. We have a house very close to us, less than a minutes drive, where a man went in and tried to kill his wife. She fled with her throat cut and he went upstairs and molested his stepdaughter and murdered her. Then he went to another state and ended up killing himself by setting himself on fire. The wife returned to the house and lived there for a long time but it is empty now. I wish they would tear it down. My son, Bill, talks about it way too much. The kids all know about it because the public school is within sight of that house so they were under a lockdown during the first few hours after it happened and the police didn't know where the man was. We all had to line up in front of the school, a man came out to see who we wanted to pick up, and then he walked our kids to the car. There were police at the school because the man had a son in first grade there. I hope that community can build a new school and not be haunted by those horrible memories. Beth

There's an old song we used to sing, "They'll know we are Christians by our love." I pray we can all be like lights on a hill, that men may see our good works and glorify our Father which is in heaven.

I'm a Lancaster county girl. My mother-in-law works at the Mennonite Info. Center in Lancaster. She has been taking calls from all over the country and shared a couple with me from people who wanted someone to know how the example the Amish have set with forgiveness has helped them with forgiveness-issues in their own lives. They did a segment on the Today Show this morning on forgiveness and how amazing these families are. Truly a blessing. These 5 (or 6) young girls who lived in this small, closed community never knew how they, and their families, would have a message for the whole country.

I haven't been blessed in knowing any Amish families although I have heard of their great love for the Lord.
I pray for them all as they go through this tragedy.
What awesome strength and an incredible faith they have in the Lord. What a blessed world we would live in if we all had the heart for forgiving as these families have.
I asked myself why things like this happen to God fearing people. Then the Lord quickly answered me. He uses all things for his glory. Through this the strength that can only come from Christ alone is being displayed through these people. You hear of them on the radios and TV. People are discussing it in public and unknown to most of them, the forgiveness of Jesus is being displayed and revealed. God is good and always working, He never rests and He is strongly using this tragedy for the world to see the power of forgiveness and the power of His love for man kind. These people who have been stricken by tragedy are sharing an example of the forgiveness of Chris to an ungodly world that would be bitter and vengeful had this happened to them.
    God is good indeed.

Lancaster County Girl, I've been near your home! When my MFH (mighty fine husband) & I went for a time of initiation in Akron, PA for MCC mission work, we enjoyed the rolling hills, the big farms, and the shoefly pie! In fact, before that, my MFH worked in the MCC headquarters there for about three months, trucking things to NY City & Newark NJ, taking things to be shipped over seas or picking up workers coming back. It's a beautiful part of the country. I'm sorry about the tragedy. Thanks for sharing how God is bringing good from it.

hey prairie home - glad that you and your hubby enjoyed Lancaster Co. I'm a bit partial to it myself! I know exactly where MCC headquarters are. We now live about 45 min. from there - closer to Philadelphia, but all of our family is still in Lanc. so our van can pretty much make the trip without us even steering!
The story is still getting a bit of airtime around here, and my husband and I were just talking about it again today. The shooter, who my brother-in-law grew up with, was from a "church" family. His family has helped with a couple of church plants. But he became angry when his newborn baby died and evidently became bitter. That's the horrible irony of this. A bitter man who was unable to forgive took it out on people who are an amazing testimony of forgiveness.

As my older kids used to say,
They don't just talk the talk, they walk the walk.
Still praying for all the families.
