I took the advice of the board and am slowing it down with the K12 through Dec. Through doing this, we have actually made more progress than we have in the last two months! I have the kids just sit down and work on one subject for a certain length of time to earn something that they want, usually a bit of time on their game systems. They look forward to the reward, and if they do more than I expected, I give them extra fun time.

My youngest is still very lazy, so doesn't get as much extras as his brother, but at least he does get his work done eventually.

We are plugging along, but this will be the only year with this curriculum. My husband and I discussed stopping, but the kids are really making progress now and we don't want to take the chance of having even more stress this year.

We generally concentrate on no more than 2 subjects each day. So far, this seems to be what brings progress.

Great! We always do the language arts and math with this program, but I have skipped the history or science if the day has been too stressed. I also do not force the whole lesson (language or math) on my kiddies, especially if it is something simple that they seem to pick up quickly or something I think is just way too confusing that I can explain in a much simplier manner (we had a couple of those lessons today ;) )

There are much more then 180 days (or whatever your school year requirement is) in the year. So take your time and continue to let it be fun.

unfortunately, we are on a 180 day schedule due to getting this curriculum through the public school.

Next year, though, we will be back to having the whole 12 months for our schooling. I can't wait!

Taking a break makes all the difference. I am so glad everyone here encouraged me to do that. Of course, we are really not doing bookwork at all. But I have found we are learning through life. We have to school 180 days, too. But it can be any 180 days out of the same year. Not just the ps scheduled days.

Hope you are able to catch your breath during your break!
