We were going to start back today....but my middle and youngest are sick, which means doctor trip and major interuptions to our day. May do some light work with eldest, but nothing strenuous!

    :)

Carl returns to school tomorrow. We've done a little (VERY LITTLE!) off and on. I'm planning on making sure math gets done for everyone today, and hopefully Rachael will get a science experiment done. Tomorrow we start in full force. Rachael even has her English class starting up tomorrow! AWANAS won't start until next week, but quizzing is coming up and the have a quizzing practice tomorrow during the regular AWANAS time. Rachael and another girl are doing JV Quizzing, so they decided to meet and study while the regular quizzing practice is going on. Faythe and Phillip's art class will meet this week, but Rachael's history group will start next week.

I am starting tomorrow. DH is home today so I am sure we will do some school today. He loves to be a part of that. We took very little time off. We still had reading, math and some fun stuff. However, there were a few days of no school at all. I am looking forward to getting back into it.

The day hasn't started out the way I planned! I couldn't get the kids up this morning! We are way off schedule with sleeping...so that will have to be adjusted. And now, we are all watching the funeral of President Ford. The kids are very interested in how they honor a president at a funeral. They started asking a bunch of questions about him and as I was looking up info on the internet for them to read...my kids had already pulled out our book of presidents and were reading all about him!! So, now, we have decided to have a history day and officially start back with our normal routine tomorrow!

As I reread my post, I am wondering if days like this ARE "normal"??? At least for us homeschoolers! That's the beauty of it, eh? :)

AMEN to that, Leslie!!! With HS'ing, every day is so unique, that a "normal" one would be the exception!

Katie goes back to school tomorrow, but I think Joy and I are going to run errands while she is there. Katie will no doubt need a nap when she gets home in the afternoon, so Joy and I can do light homeschooling then. We'll go back to our regularly scheduled program on Thursday. :)

We started back today. There was much excitement. THe second semester schedule poster is on the wall, and the student is very proud of it.

Attidude is great today. Reading ability seemed to survive the long break and the bad attitude seems to have been attenuated a great deal.

Perhaps with God's help we can maintain this positive momentum for a while.

We will look up Pres. Ford and study him a little on our next SS lab day. My spouse is a history and news junky so we have had a lot of funeral coverage on around here. I asked him about the two attempted assasinations when my daughter asked what that meant and he rattled off the dates of the events and the names of the women who did them. The kids are facsinated that he can name almost everyone they put the camera on. Who's that daddy, who's that one, and that one......

Edited to add: No disrespect to Pres. Ford. We are loosing a day of pay to him and think that is enough., so elected not to get further behind in school. LOL

My daughter is still too young to get into the Ford "thing." While he was a great president, I didn't even bother watching his funeral. We didn't do too bad with school today thankfully since behavior has been a big issue here lately. I couldn't get up and get motivated this morning. We really need to work on that before all our activities start up again next week.

I am not sure what normal is anymore. I did, however, start getting my lessons together today for tomorrow. I know my kids are not looking forward to it.

We will offically start back full force on the 9th, but today, dgs wanted to go visit my brother. He is an avid arrow head hunter and collector. I don't know why dgs broght it up, but we decided to make it a field trip. Dgs called Sunday and they set it up for today. He had all his collection ready when we got there. He told about the time period when they were made, what Indians were in our region and what they were used for. He explained flint rock and even had some primitive tools that he explained to Elijah. My brothers son died of chicken pox about 10 years ago, they had no other children - soooo I think this was good for him. Elijah is looking forward to writing a report and then going back out. My brother also told him that in the spring/summer he would take him on a dig. He gave him a very old arrow heads, flint rock and some other kinds of rock the Indians used for other things. Even my dgd was very intentive.

We had piano lessons today, and are doing math and other music practice at least. We may do a bit more. We need to go get gas, groceries and haircuts, so that will take a chunk out of our day. But at least we're getting a little more done than the past few days! :)

With daddy home it's a little harder to get into the full schedule, but then again, he's helping ds15 with his math, so that's a great thing! DH even got the laundry going and the kitchen cleaned while I was taking the kids to piano lessons! What a guy!!!

Tomorrow we hit the full-time schedule, I think. If it doesn't work right off, I'm not too worried about it. We'll get the kinks out so we're ready to go full hog next week!

The schools around here are all back in session today, so that helps my kids be more ready to settle into schoolwork also!

We were going to start today. HOwever, I worked all weekend and my family was here the entire week before that. Nothing was done in the house while I worked. I went to start with the schooling this morning and the clutter literally drove me over the edge. Thus we cleaned today and will start back tomorrow.

okay kids did nto do enough in rooms so today I set thier school up for rest of the year, Johnny will be done at the of May in most classes and the eight of June in a Math and Bible I think it was. I was amazed at how fast I could reset the schools rest of the work to fit the rest o fthe year! I even have a week off for Ressurection/Easter break! May be planning a trip to WA state with just us three for that week, depends on if the eldest gets the same time off, although I could change ours I suppose! ( giggle)
My sis would love it if we came up !
I found her a cheaper day care ! YEAAAAAA!
its in a good location I think too up the road a ways from her home, and in a shopping center type of place it looks like?
anyway it saves her 25 dollars a week if she takes it!
for one mroe day a week!
I feel like I have accomplished so much today!
    So cooL!

We started back on the 1st with a very light afternoon. We will continue with a light schedule until next week, when we will add to the schedule until it is the full schedule back again.

The 2 week break really was needed by all of us. The boys are gearing up to get caught up with their work, especially my older son. He is determined to be finished with spelling for the year by his birthday, which is mid-feb. I don't know if he'll make it, but I know that he will be close if he continues on this pace he has set.

The boys are asking a lot about plans for next year's curriculum. They are happy about not doing the k12 next year.

IF they can finish early we can hit the 140 showing and then run to Library and back home in time for me to fix supper before Church kids club night!
ORrrrrr I could finally put that roast in the crock pot! !
we have carrots and celery , Amy pm me and tell me what to put in with my roast when? PLLLeeeeeeeeeeease? Thanks!

We will be starting back on Monday, although we have done somet hings for the past 2 weeks that I counted as school. It just wasnt very consistent but we did do a few things..Madison got a new Little Pet shop toy that "weighs" the pets, so we started a paper listing the pet and how much they "weigh" the weight is in ounces I think since they are so small but Hey might as well use it in other ways too.

Teacher Mom, I babysit but don't have to do anything special because I only keep Babyboy and I don't charge for it so it is like keeping my grandson. Which is how I think of him even though we are only related by our love for each other. I usually only have him 3 days a week now that his mother changed jobs but I have him for about 11 hours those 3 days. Beth
