I have said over and over that I really like the K12 lessons. But we have been unable to access them online now for 6 days. I have called, they have sent me things to attempt to fix my computer that haven't worked. I really do not want to give up this program, but I am not going to continue to pay for something we can't use. Grr... I don't want to start over.

It is www.k12.com I just really like how not only is it all planned ;), but the boys are really responding to it. My DSs reading is improving alot. Everything is really broken down. They usually have one required lesson to teach and then have a couple optional lessons that support. So, if you child gets it you skip ahead and if they don't there is additional practice.

I am sure there are others very similiar out there, but I just don't want to have to look again. But I think if they can't get this fixed for us by tomorrow or the next day, that is what we are going to have to do. We have to get moving again. I know I could be doing other things, but I don't like to make them repeat if they have gotten it. They get bored and frustrated as well.

6 days of not getting access would drive me nuts. Unfortunately with windows so many bad things can go wrong that the company might not be able to help you get back up and running. I took a look and it seems like the site uses some kind of multi-media framework like Flash or Java. You might try using another browser like Firefox or Opera, since they might work when IE is broken beyond repair. Your only other solution might be to reinstall the operating system.

On the other hand, some websites have terrible customer support and will not even admit when the problem is on their end! I dealt briefly with abcteach.com when their server was crashing, and they did whatever they could to blame it on me, my ISP, my firewall, etc., treating me like an imbecile in the process. Not fun.

I will give my email. You can email me if you want my phone number, or can give me your number if you would like me to try to help you over the phone with your computer. ( I have unlimited long distance) Troubleshooting computers is what I do as my stay at home business. I would be glad to attempt to help you at no cost, or at lease help you eliminate possibilities.

    Glad it is working.

I got the PM, wrote the number down then checked it twice then deleted the PM, just in case some hacker could break into those and find your number.

Anyway I must have wrote it down wrong because I get "dee deed deet, the number you have reached..................."

Thank you for trying anyway. I downloaded the new IE and that seemed to fix the problem. All was fine when I checked it yesterday. I do really appreciate the offer. :)

I have a ton of different books for math and language, but most of the lesson plans are online. All of their science and history is online. They sent us all the equipment for any experiments, but the lessons are totally online.

do your kids have as list if so many pages in book A ans so many book b abd c, d, etc? it seemed like overwhelming to me but he is an overactive kid so i thought it was to keep up with him?
i like my couple books here and there but that is just my style so the computer lessons do they type the answers or print them? and do you turn them in or what, i am interested so i can advise others when they ask btw

The lessons are completely laid out for you and tell you exactly which books to use and when (if you are online ;) ) I got some of the lesson plans with DS 10s , but only about half. I could have skipped ahead with his, but then I would have searched through the schedule online when it came back up to mark things off.

I do not have to check with anyone or send in what they do. I guess it is built off trust. In theory I could go through all of it and mark it as being done and haven't really done anything.

I have actually done that a couple of times, because I thought their lessons were too confusing or too simple and I didn't want to waste time on them. If it was too simple, we just skipped ahead. If it was confusing, I taught the way I understood and/or did something else.

I do not know how K12 is run when it is a charter or virtual school through the state. I think they do have to meet with a teacher once a week/month or something to review work. But I have no idea. As a homeschooling option (ie we pay for it), it isn't regulated.

Also the program (lessons) are definately state requirements. So it isn't an option for someone who is looking for religious material or who doesn't agree with the state requirements for what is learned each year. I also think it is a bit advanced compared to what my kids were even learning in PS before we moved. So if someone is pulling their child from PS because the school moved on without their child, they may find they have to take several steps back with K12.

With that in mind, K12 doesn't list the lessons by grade, but rather by level. So it isn't too hard on the kids to find out that maybe they are in 5th grade in PS, but mom purchased level 3 for us to learn at home.

Kind of sporadic, but I hope that answers some questions :)
