I just wanted to let everyone know that after thinking long and hard about it and having so much trouble posting on the *most popular* used curriculum swap board (some of you know which one I mean ;) ), I have decided to build my own swap board. This is being offered, of course, free of charge, and I will not be requiring any registration in the beginning. I will only ever require registration if spamming the board becomes a problem. I hope that you all will spread the word about this new swap, because I feel it is very well organized for both buying and selling, and is broken down not only by grade, but by subject. I would also appreciate any feedback from anyone who wishes to stop by and let me know what you think! I do not believe that only a select few people should be able to post, in particular when those that are being blocked have done absolutely nothing to deserve it, just as I know most of us that are currently blocked on the one which I mentioned before ;) have not spammed that board in any way nor have we done anything else that would pertain to us being blocked. I am just fed up with contacting them 1,000's of times, practically begging them to let me use their board, because it is where *everybody* goes to buy and sell and I really have had wonderful luck finding *everything* I needed on that board, only for them to completely ignore my requests for customer service.

So those of you that are with me on that, or just want another place to post your WTB and FS items, please check it out at www.homeschoolheartswap.cjb.com !!

Thanks to everyone who bothered to read this for your time and attention and for letting me rant just a bit <vbg>......

Looks like you have a very nice start!!! I will be glad to see it finished! May I make ask a question? I notice your stuff is geared toward grade levels, to a degree. What would I do for a book that isn't grade specific? Many of us are using history that isn't grade specific...Mystery of History, Story of the World, etc. I also use Considering God's Creation, Natural Speller and Simply Grammar. I like to invest my money in curriculums that I can continue using. I am currently looking for English From The Roots Up, for about $10, for the tutoring program at church. Would it be best to search out each individual grade division?

    Thanks Jackie,
As far as the grade level goes, I would just use your own judgment. Try to remember what grades that you did use it in and what grades you therefore think it would be appropriate for. The buyer needs to be responsible for knowing what they are looking for and asking the seller questions where appropriate. Say for example, someone knows for sure they want Mystery of History (several are already posted, but I'm not sure what grade they put it in), they can actually just use the search function and find all the posts with Mystery of History in them. So regardless of where you put it on the board, it can still be found! I would just try to narrow it down to a range, as the grades are listed not singly but in groups of a range. Considering God's Creation, for example, as I understand it, is a 2nd and 3rd grade curriculum, but can be adapted for use in other grades. So in that case, it might be appropriate to put it in both the K-2nd grade science and the 3-6th grade science. Again it will be searchable so putting it in any particular grade is more for browsing convenience. Some people like to just go in and browse certain grades and/or subjects without having anything specific in mind that they want to buy. If they do have something specific in mind, they will generally use the search feature rather just browsing to find it.

I hope that helps! Let me know if I can answer any more of your questions!

I didn't notice the search function. That would make it easier! Most of the used stuff I buy from Homeschool Classifieds, but am always looking for other good swap boards. I hate the ones that aren't broken down at all, or you have to scan through a million different things to find something, or half of the posts are from vendors. I will be sure to bookmark your page. I also like the links to "local" stuff. I've always thought that if I ever do a page, it would have links to cheap/free stuff in the central Ohio area that HS'ers would be interested in.

    Thanks Jackie,
I'm glad you like it. I had the same problems with other boards you have! Which is precisely why I started this one. I hope that you find it useful.

I started the main part of the website years ago and I just never have time to work on it. I have a Homeschool Christians e-mail loop and I have a couple of other ministries as well. Not to mention tending to my family and doing school, church, etc. I just find I don't have the time to work on the site.

The board went up surprisingly easily. Outside of one issue when the server was down for a few days, it has been no problem at all. I wish my sent had gone up that easy.

Anyway, thanks again! Maybe I will see you on the swap board!

    Doesn't work for me either.

I never thought about sites blocking users, but twice inthe last week, my requests for a sale on HSClassifieds have been returned as undeliverable- very frustrating!

The starting date of this thread was 2005 so maybe the site is no longer up or she changed it.

I think the site is no longer about swapping homeschool material. I clicked on the link and my computer blocked it right away. It states the reason for blocking the page is because there is porn on the site.
I am assuming it is linked to one of the ads.
