    why we homeschool

We don't homeschool for religious reasons here in this house. Mainly because of the stinkin standardized test and all of the focused and repetitive teaching it required. DD is dev. delayed and has adhd. she needs lots of time and material presented in multiple ways before she gets it, if at all. And writing just isn't her thing. And reading textbooks...forget about it!

In the time it used to take to get her homework done, we can get a 'days' worth of school in, w/no pressure to perform. Hallelujah!!:) Oh and then there are the eating and bathroom issues that arose every day, as well. And getting up in the morning...let's just say that if Em ever says something like, gee I really miss school, I only have to say...what about catching the bus? She changes her tune very quickly. It also allows plenty of time for doctor/therapy appts, and any volunteer opporunities we want to take advantage of.

I will start homeschooling next year. My daughter is very advanced and she is not challenged in any way. She is doing things she could do before K...in first grade! We are moving to a different state to take care of my grandma. She had a stroke in Nov. I felt the calling to homeschool her. I will see how it goes. I am very, very excited.:D I am also equally nervous...lol:confused:

The reason we pulled our daughter out of kindergarten wasn't because of religion. In fact, she was attending a Christian school. I won't go on and on about it since I've posted before, but it was because an older kid was innappropriately touching many little girls and the school did nothing!
In return I have found a closer relationship with her, (including random kisses and hugs offered to me without asking!) and she is really catching on to reading and math now...whereas her teacher was already hinting mid-year that she may need to repeat kindergarten.
    I don't think so, lady!
But overall, I do feel like God helped me to make the final decision...because I FOR SURE never planned on this!
