We finally did lapbooks and it went great. I had wanted to try it ever since I read about them. I don't think we will do them too often as they do take up a lot of time and I don't want the dds to get burned out on the idea. Lot's of fun!! If I were more computer savvy I would post pix.
Dh said he would post them later tonight. Have you tried it before? We started very small just using construction paper and a very familiar topic--parts of speech.
No, I've been meaning to for about 2 years, and I just keep not getting to it! I'm always impressed when someone DOES do it though! Goody, I look forward to seeing the pictures!
Okay, here they are (hopefully) and like I said, we didn't do anything fancy. We just used regular sized construction paper. The dd's had a good time doing them and an even better time examining each others'. http://rmcculloch27603.tripod.com/hspix/
For those of you who are contemplating doing lapbooks, but are just afraid of all the work involved to plan them....... There are several companies out there~ such as In The Hands of a Child and Knowledge Box Central that offer lapbook kits~ you can get these in e-book format~ they come with all the information and even the mini-books all ready for you to assemble. You just do the research on the topics and decide what you want to include in the mini books. Some of these kits even have the information right there in them, or a list of websites where you might find the information. We've used several of these kits and they are alot of fun~ my girls just love them. You can purchase them at http://www.HomeSchoolEStore.com/catalog/index.php?affiliate_id=116 Homeschool E-store offers a FREE product each week~ often the lapbook kits are featured. So, keep checking back!
momofthem, I can't get there to see them cuz our filter blocks the site. There must be some 3rd party ads before getting there.
They were great! I showed them to my dd - she was interested to see someone else's as we've started doing them not long ago too!
I'm glad you liked them. I'd love to see pix of any you do. It is always great to see and hear what others are doing as I have a tendency to get in a rut!
They are really neat and now I finally know what a lap book is! Deena: one of the ones was for parts of speach, on the inside of the outside flaps are the words of speach, noun, verb, etc...... on a triangle but then you lift the triangle and it is a diamond with the explanation of what the words are. They did 3 books it looked like. Great job too!
Thanks for explaining ABall. I'm sorry Deena, I don't know what to do--can you temporarily disable your pop-up control??
We did a lapbook on creation. My dd is working on one now for math. Mine are pretty simple. My dd loved doing it though. I use a small poster board and fold it so it opens in the middle. Then we just fill it up like a scrapbook page. Simple. lol. I know these can get pretty complex but that will have to wait for now.
AussieMum, that is great! Did your dc like doing it? How old are they? I am so glad you posted. Are you going to do any more? (sorry so many questions)
okay, to remind me the lap books are basicaly notebooks full of the school work unit type thing you are doing at the moment? Is that right?
