I am so sorry. I know you have all addressed this a million times. But I didn't pay attention, because I thought we were set.

Anyway, I decided to dump math and science from our K12 program. I thought the math was too easy (we were done already) and the science way too difficult.

I have tons of material for math to have them move on. But nothing for science. I would really like to do science as a group activity. I think it would be more fun for them. I am trying to make all of it more fun so the kids and I aren't so frustrated. I was really really frustrated when I considered the private school.

Anyway, the grade levels we have are preK, 2nd and 4th. My 4th grader is really on a 3rd grade reading level. My preK has a very good chance of staying preK next year as well. She has a mild learning disability and I am not goingto push her at this point and make learning unpleasant.

I was wondering what suggestions there were for science units. We do not want a Christian based unit. If you know where this was posted before, a link to that thread would work just as well as posting again :) I just couldn't find it during my super quick 30 second check ;)

    I'm using this right now

Our pastors wife gave it to me. Is working really well. Right now we're studying air and every day we do 1 to 2 expiriments in regards to what we are studying. We are having a lot of fun with it.
Why I like the book? I like it because it not only has expiriments, but goes into the why's and how's of everything. GIves you all the information right there and each section is written perfectly for a unit study.

I noticed there are other books as well

Here are a few more that look good too!

there's a ton that look good to me. I'm planning on ordering noeoscience, but after all the searching I've been doing lately, I may just buy a bunch of books and do our own thing.

I noticed there are books from "Time" for kids on Barnes and Noble too. Could also get those and do unit studies on each book. They're done by the "Time Life" magazine publishers. Didn't really look at them just now but that might be a fun idea also!

Dorling-Kindersley has some good books. If you can go to a good book store like Barnes and Noble, they should have a section with these hardback books about the Rain Forest, Oceans, and all sorts of science topics. They are very colorful, and fun to use! I think it's fairly easy to come up with things to do, and they often have little experiments and things in them to try.

http://www.quirkles.com click on the meet the Quirles to veiw each letter and the activities.
this site has free phonic lesson and each lesson ends with a science experiment that goes along with the letter.

It tells you the materials needed.
    How to do the experiment.
The end results and what caused the results.

I think they are fun and exciting.
