are most homeschoolers homebodies?

We live west of Seattle. The ferries have risen their rates to outrageous prices! But, the sad thing is, with the gas prices so high here, it's almost cheaper to take the ferry now! It also save on wear and tear and mileage to take the ferry rather than drive around, aside from not having to pay for the gas!

we aren't homebodies, but I think with the price of gas going up I think more people are just thinking harder.

Maybe you need to hike in the same spot for a few weeks, till they all get bored and then move to another one.

People are funny. You have to feel them out. KWIM.

I am a homebody, but I don't get to stay home often! We are very invovled with our church and belong to their youth group. We love field trips and tend to take long ones as often as possible. Last year I took the twins on a field trip....we followed the Oregon trail by car from Missouri, to Oregon. Most of my family lives in Seattle, Olympia and Port Townsend WA. It was a great trip, we learned a lot about geography, met lots of neat people, went to lots of different churches and had a good time. My husband flew to Seattle and we continued our trip as a family. This year we are going to take the southern route, go up the west coast from California to Washington on 101.
I would love to join your group but I am just too far away! Keep trying, there is always someone who wants to do fun things.

Oh, Twilite, that sounds like so much fun!!! I told Carl last night that I want to do that in two summers. We will probably spend the next two years doing American History, and I figure the summer after that will be the right time. I've an aunt and uncle in the Washington area (though they may have moved back to Idaho!), and they've been trying to convince us to visit!

Idaho is beautiful too! I love the Snake River. I am afraid I should be living out west instead of here in Missouri, but the price of real estate is so high out there...it is a great trip and there are so many things to see along the way! Lots and lots of fun.

I can't WAIT to get back to the west coast. I miss the mountains, I miss the people, I miss no humidity lol.

Dh and I spent every weekend in the Cascades before dd came along. Someday we will return! I think will probably retire in OR though. 15 more years!

There are some neat camping places! I'd have to check around if you want more specifics. If you're here in August and September the weather is usually nice! There are lots of things to do here, so it'd be a great way to start out a new school year! ;)

No, that's too late for us. School starts up for Carl the end of August, so he likes to have at least one week home before he needs to start getting ready.

I plan on being in Washington State in August! I am going to stay at my Aunt's place around Quilcene. I just love it out there. I lived most of my life in Western Washington until I married my second husband! I should have convinced him to move out there I believe. God Bless, I have to get our morning going or we simply won't get a thing done today.

My aunt has lived there for about 20 years, give or take, probably more! It is a small community too.

Nope, not I! My hubby is not into too far because of GAS prices lately but other wise we would go for it!
Me and the kids, or the kids and I either way, hehe, we would not have a problem with distance up to a days drive hehe, then we get bored!

check for me! I may be moving my family reunion up there! seems half the family will be there for the "Armpit Open" a golf turnament they put on yearly in Kent!
So since my baby brother may come down from Canada to there at least, I may make us change location to up there!
Seems like we are forever traveling I-5, but the one time we tried the coast my old van died and we picked up a lemon! What a spiritual battle that was LOL !
anyway, so what you got Deena? I know Dash PT. and Salt Water, state parks, I know of Kalayloch probably spelled wrong Lol.. on the coast, but whats closer in? And whats a good park for a family reuinion pic nic bbq?

Are you wanting something on the Kent/Seattle side? I don't know that side as well, but I could try to find out if you'd like.

I think you mean Montesano. If so, that's about half-way between where we live and Ocean Shores, WA. It's probably about 1 1/2 hours away from where we live.
