Those are available on DVD for $19.99. You get every Schoolhouse rock song ever made plus a couple that were finished after the program cancelled. I just bought it at Circut City this week.

Free is nice, but I like being able to use the DVD format.

Oh, I know it's for sale. I was actually just looking at the DVD's yesterday but they were almost $35 at an expensive toy store. We have the songs on CD and on cd-rom but I thought that was a neat alternative. You get to actually read the words to the song as you listen. I'm all for purchasing any educational products but really all I wanted was for dd to listen (and read) to the song for each fact she's working on! I rented the DVD from Netflix but my dd didn't like it and wouldn't even finish watching it. So, I guess I will stick with this site. It will be very helpful to us.

Here is a great way to teach the 9's.
Hold up your ten fingers.Number your fingers starting with the left hand thumb (1) .
    Example: 9x6=
Hold up all ten fingers. Now hold down the sixth one (the right thumb). Now count the number of fingers you have on the left hand. That is the first number (5). Now count the number of fingers you have behind the sixth one (4). The answer is 54. This can only be done through the 10's, and only for the nines. Repeat this procedure for the rest of the numbers. 9x7 hold down the seventh finger.

You can also us egg cartons to teach all multiplication.
You use pennies or anything small. I have even used M&M's.
Say you want to multiply 4x9. You put 4 pennies into nine egg compartments. As you are doing this you count each penny. Thus you have counted 36 pennies. 4x9=36.

These are just a the tip of how many ways you can teach Multiplication.
    Hope these have helped.
School House Rock is a good way too.

    Thanks Vicky!

I love that nine trick. I never knew that when I was learning about multiplication. Just learned that recently as a matter of fact.

Also, with the 9's, the "tens" space always goes up one number and the "ones" space comes down one number. I.E. 18, 27, 36, 45, 54 (see the tens' spot? 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. see the ones' spot? 8, 7, 6, 5, 4.)

    And also, the answers all add up to 9! (1 + 8 -- 18. 2 + 7 --27. 3 + 6 -- 36).

    All courtesy of Math-U-See :)
