This all sounds so fun! I wonder if we should do something like this!

 

We did this a couple or 3 years ago with my ds that is now 13yo. He had a blast with it! We got a photo album that has the sleeves and stuck the postcards in there, so we could see both sides. He loved it, because there were different stamps (which he was also interested in, and also the postal thing to cancel the stamps was interesting! Great geography tool, and also, he loved getting them in the mail, and enjoyed marking them off on his map! He got all but 3 or 4 US States, and some foreign ones!

 

I still have mine from when I was a kid! We traveled through most of the states. We never went to the "deep south" or New England, but were at just about everywhere else! Plus friends would send them to me. I also have a good number from different countries.

 

OH wow.. thats awesome! You should try this if you havent.. we have a big map and we are putting push pins in where we are getting them from!

 

okay I am goign to do that next fall! When I start teachign US History to my ds, I will have you all send post cards and we can do geo at the same time
