Alright, I don't post images on these boards very often so let's see how my sizing job is....

First lapbook created today by my 8yo son for reading. He's having some grasping problems with 'main idea' and also 'summary'. I *WAS* having him write one sentence for each page to tell me what happened, and then having him draw pictures... but it is like pulling teeth to get him to WRITE anything. It seems harder for him to put 'main idea' into words... so I decided to let him DRAW a picture instead, giving strict instructions that his couldn't be the same as the one on the page. ;)

Here is the result of his story, The Legend of the Bluebonnet. He read it Monday, drew the pics on Wednesday, and did the lapbook today.

The white that you see underneath it all on this one is a built-in pocket that came in the folder. I didn't realize they were there, but hopefully in the future we can incorporate the pockets into the lapbook itself.

All of our lapbooks for now will be reading main ideas. (He's got separate books for vocab and comprehension questions based on the stories.) He enjoyed doing it and we might sneak one in for something else now and then... like the fish we're learning about for scouts. ;)

Neat! We haven't done any lapbooks but I like how it's in a folder like that.

Very cool. We're working on one on Ancient Greece right now. I expect it will take us several more months to finish though.

my kids are looking forward to History next year, but we are arguing over what books to use Lol!
We may get a couple of them from the History of the World and some from Explorying the World or America, still not sure where ds9 should be, Life Paks have you do so much on the World geography and history in grade school that I know the kids here in Cal dont do, and in oru local private schools they do Abeka, which does US in forth and World in Fifth, so I am thinking since dd is supposed to do world in 10th, I will do world with both of them at the same time, and then just expect different levels of projects to go with, and book reports. Also I can have dd read aloud with ds that way too!
Ihave to plan in time for writing projects for me in my school year ahead so am working to teach them how to work together on some projects, as well as teach them other ones.
I have been spoiled this year with SOS, for the most part, it does the grading, I will have to do next year! Lol
    and the scheduleing!
