Did anyone else watch the space shuttle lift off a little bit ago? They havn't showed them on TV for a while and Eva is really into space still.
I saw the lift off and just heard this morning that they are traveling at 5 miles per second. That is hard to imagine.

we watched it too. my daughter was mostly impressed by the smoke, but my husband and I were impressed that they were at one point traveling 20,000 miles per hour!
lol. I thought it was impossible too! But according to NASA a space shuttle must travel at least 17,500 miles per hour (28,000 kilometers per hour) to stay in orbit. Apparently the exact speed depends on the shuttles altitude. Crazy to think that they could possibly be traveling that fast.
I hope they don't consider it 'old news' because I never heard a thing about it. Though we don't watch much tv anyhow. Seems somewhere I would have heard about it, before it happened.
HMM I wonder if our signitures when on that shuttle. We had space day awhile back at the library. We signed a big piece of paper that will go into a space shuttle. Just don't know when it will be. They are to email us when they do it.
